Heads up mate, alot of people on this board are like that. People enjoy to state opinions. Forums are for opinions. That was his opinion. Get over it.
Picking at random here: How revolutionary of them Uh-huh. Ooooh. Pointing out racism. Quite. Fuck knows. ... CONSPIRACY THEORIES FTMFW. Why we always hatin' huh? And we're back to apparent inherit racism.
The lyrics to Killing In the Name are great. Any band worth its salt has to have a "fuck everybody" song. It's how I know who to fuck. I'm pretty sure Hypocrisy had one on Virus.
I was thinking more that they're fun and catchy, rather than serious. I mean when it comes stirring controversy, stuff that's catchy always makes the biggest impact, which is clearly what they wanted. It doesn't necessarily mean their political statements are accurate, but they have ideas that attract people. He gets quite a bit of praise actually, some people think it's more than he deserves. Personally I think he's awesome considering how long he's been playing the guitar, and how quickly he was able to become as good as he is.
So...getting off of Rage, who I do like, but I don't really feel deserve defending... Personally, I'm more of a rock guy. Some of my favorite (what I consider) rock bands: Clutch, Powderfinger, Oasis, Muse, Soundgarden, Audioslave (here comes more Morello-hate), The Cult, Four Star Mary, Live, The Tragically Hip, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Bad Company, Blur, The Frames, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Queens of the Stone Age, Rainbow, Steve Miller Band, The Who. I will now sit and wait for each of these bands to be classified as something other than "hard rock".
I hate this band so much...so boring and their singer is terrible. Tbh though, I think I'd actually find them decent if it wasn't for him...
OK I read the first page... lol I dont really keep up with the latest music. But of a few bands I can think of over the years that did kick back to more traditional hardrock were The Black Crows but that was late 80's. Buckcherry is pretty good from the few songs I heard, they have two guitar players that dont actually play the same thing and you cant do a bar gig without playin "Crazy Bitch", I was surprised but the girls really get into that song, they sing along, shake that thang.... go figure Clutch is pretty damn good everything is so fused today its hard to classify music really those "pop metal" bands from the 80's everyone is trying to call hardrock today ? forget about it, they were pop metal bands/commercial metal or just plain metal, even if they used some more traditional rock progressions in some songs they were still metal, they used the palm mute power pedals, metal lead guitar antics some albums even had an actually "heavy metal" song from time to time. They were very much part of the "Metal" scene, in fact most of those guitarists wrote the book on metal guitar playing... same goes for many of the drummers... sorry but you cant rewrite history. The 80's was METAL!
I know, I was being a slight douche. Just saw Clutch last month, man do I love that band. Never thought I would love the same pentatonic scale so much. Haha. Yeah, I had the same thought when I first heard them. I dunno, it grew on me. Can't say as though it's for everybody, him having a goat-vibrato and all.
Awesome band. By the way, just noticed your "location." Tom Waits is the illest white man who sound like a black man. "All the donuts have names that sound like prostitutes."
I like hard rock/stoner rock. Nice when I occasionally want to blast something that hits home instantly with rawk power. Which is essentially the same thing, but whatever.
