I don't know what the logistics are to set this up but I would bet most people would fly in a day early just to hang out. Some of the performing bands would probably be flying in a day early too.

Perhaps a small entrance fee to hang out with fellow HC'ers -- at a venue, drinking beer, listening to metal, catching up. Maybe even a local band or two. If not, then perhaps just the local pub?

Not that there's anything wrong with the hotel corridor...

How many folks would fly in a day early for HC if a pre-party was to be arranged?

We did this last year and it ruled it did it not?!?!

Let me say that I'll be damned if I go on another beer run in St. Paul. Holy fuck, I thought I was back in Los Angeles. 8 darkies in a Liquor Store, one of which resembled a line backer. I don't know how long I could've held them off.

John, try to shoot for the same venue/hotel mate. It was absolutely perfect for the occasion. :dopey:

There was a pre-party? I know some of us flew in a day early but I'm suggesting that we plan something ahead of time, rather than just eat wings at the hotel bar and be hounded by that bint to drive us to the wet t-shirt contest in her minivan.

The poll options don't apply to me as I already live in the area. I wouldn't be flying in but I would be around for a pre-party.

How about a third poll option. Something such as "I'll put on my finest puffy shirt (ala Obtest) and meet everyone at the pre-party." :)

I wish I would have flown a day early and a day after...

I arrived at around 5pm on Friday (I also had to work before leaving), and left at 4am sunday morning after drinking TILL 4am. Ended up almost passing out in a super shuttle with Rudra (barely managed to not make a complete and total drunken ass out of myself), pissing on the side of MSP while I had two other guys from that supershuttle stand behind me, and passed out twice after that, once on the plane, which the planes ended up switching in MSP, so I barely caught that if it weren't for the stewardess noticing me drooling on myself in the back, and then again on the next flight, which almost made me miss my connecting flight home.

So yeah, I'm definitely down for staying there for a day before and a recovery day after.

We'll have to bring you to a different liquor store next time. There is one a few miles away from last years hotel. It is in St. Paul's Mexican neighborhood. That liquor store might make you feel like you are back home. :p

I flew in tuesday for enslaved :p You all have to come at least 2 days ahead of the show, that Wednesday was boring as shit until some people and bands started to arrive.

I had the cabbie from the mall of america take us to a liquor store first and grabbed like 3-4 cases :p That one that was near the hotel was a PAIN to carry beer from. Reminded me of the journey from the first Heathen Crusade. Back in those days, we had to walk 2 miles uphill each way with heavy cases of beer in our hands... :)

After missing the hilarity involving Janne from Manegarm's nose, I'll definitely go a day early this year.

Dude I don't know about you, but I had a blast sitting in that dingy hotel room, discussing metal, drinking beer, eating pizza, while listening to some fine tunes . What do you have in mind this time around?!

I'm game to order a stripper to liven up the show?!? Who's in? :heh:

As long as I can stick a spoon in her ass and feed the contents to another stripper, I'm down.

I'm up for whatever the majority wants to do though, but yeah, I'd be more than happy mellowing out in high spirits, with fine spirits.

Holy Fuck yes I would! It'd only be a drive for me, but I'd definitely skip class to do that. I'd love to hang out, drink beer, and listen to metal with you fuckers!

I'm pretty fucking sure TheGreatDeciever and Ben would as well. This show is a blind buy for sure for me.

Yeah that was cool but I remember some pre-party was being planned for HC2 though the idea fell through. SwordLord was going to arrange it I think. I remember because he went to the ProgPower forum asking for band suggestions. :erk:

I'm thinking of it as an actual event with a band. You never know, an actual HC band may want to play a warm up gig. Hell, if we can't get a venue, we could just sit around War Ensemble's front living room and watch Primordial play an all acoustic set.

    lol

Seeing as how I'm now old enough to be attending Heathen Crusade, I'd definately fly down/drive down a day or two early, just to get aquianted with people and hopefully some of the performers.

And who's to say we couldn't do that as well as enjoy the mellowing out fun afterwards? Best of both worlds.

Indeed. Or watch War Ensemble after much mead consumption wear a bible on his head while singing "Reign in Blood" or something.
