Yeah, I'm new here, and maybe I'm missing some kind of joke, but let me be among the first to tell you to go fuck yourself.
word of advice: take anything Hamock, Lyle, or DE says with a grain of salt. they use this forum mainly for trolling (fortunately Lyle is actually funny).
Well, it was not just one time, i would have to count all the crusades, and then all Bush's actions that he thinks that they are "blessed by God". Then again, muslim suicide bombers are mainly doing suicide missions for political reasons, not to convert others to Islam.
I could've sworn the crusades were a Catholic thing... But even so, I am a Christian and I certainly don't blame satanic killings on metal and I don't shy away from discussing the crusades. I don't know many Christians who do either of those, except some of the really older ones who grew up in a different time and generation when music supposedly had it's limits in the culture. You know you give atheists a bad name, right? I have plenty of intelligent atheist friends who can logically debate their views with me, but making broad-sweeping generalizations like this is utter stupidity. How many Christians do you know? Out of those, how many do you actually talk to without assuming their all blinded idiots? They're not. Any person with half a brain can tell you that. Killing in the name of God or a cult is wrong, but there are self-righteous, arrogant jerks in every corner and tiny aspect of human values. If you believe in God, politics, music, or even nothing - there are extremists. It can't be stopped because people make incorrect assumptions about others just like you're doing about Christians.
1. Religion is obviously a choice of opinion 2. I think some target Christianity because they mean, and some use it merely as an image to sell 3. No. I think the criticisms level at Christianity apply to Christianity only. Islam and Christianity have different beliefs and ideals. 4. I think Scandinavian bands in particular target Christianity because Christianity is what took away the Scandinavian's pagan legacy and heritage. Islam hasn't done anything worthy of Scandinavia's hatred. Christianity took away the pagan and heathen way of life, that is a reason why it is hated. 5. No, the same kind of people would enjoy anti-Islam that would enjoy anti-Christianity. 6. No. Some people would still support them, some oppose. It'd be the same as being anti-Christianity in terms of reactions 7. yes 8. what the fuck 9. why would I answer if it made me uncomfortable?
From a purely practical perspective, Islam has very little global power and represents only a marginal threat to the future. Christianity and Christian ideals are firmly embedded in the social and political structures of the Western nations who possess the lion's share of the world's projectable power. Turd Worlders aren't a long term threat. The JewSA is.
1. Do you believe that your religion is a choice you make? Not for most people. All people are raised to believe what their parents believe. I was raised Catholic, but around 12 years old I took the more logical path and became an Atheist. 2. Do heavy metal bands target Christianity because they mean it, or just because they can? Both 3. Do you think the criticisms usually leveled at Christianity by heavy metal bands also apply to Islam? No, because 90+% of metal bands are from countries where Christianity is the dominant religion. 4. Given current world events and how they are affecting especially metal-prolific Scandinavian countries, do you expect more anti-Islam themed band names, album names, and song titles? I can't say that I definitely expect it to happen, but it's a possibility. 5. Would an anti-Islam band face more difficulties establishing and promoting itself than an anti-Christian band would? Why? In a country like America, most definitely. It has to do with profiling. 6. Do you think there would be different consequences for musicians being openly anti-Islam as opposed to being anti-Christian? Why? 7. Do you think Century Media or The End Records would sign and release albums by a band called Rotting Mohammed? Yes. 8. Do these questions make you uncomfortable? No. 9. Do your answers to these questions make you uncomfortable? No.
One of my aunts and her husband are born again christians. Both are not anything like they use to be & I no longer really know them. When my mother watches their two kids my aunt tells her what both kids can watch. They also smack both kids in the face very hard over stupid shit. What father smacks their daughters in the face. God I hate christians. That fuck is lucky i'm not going to do anything because I still have some sanity.
I think you are wrong there. At least in the modern metal genres christians are mostly not bashed for their (imagined) conservationism, narrow-mindedness or hypocrisy, but because of the religion itsself. I'd also say the lyrics are mostly targeted at the religion itsself and not the christian people (even if the lyrics say otherwise - i think they are not always to be taken literal or without a grain of salt). So you will ask what's wrong about the religion itsself... Here is some criticism that i mostly read in all kinds of lyrics or texts or in the web and that i mostly share: -Christianity says: "It is irrelevant what you do in live if afterwards you hate yourself and proclaim that you are a sinner and beg for mercy". -Christians and other monotheists (even if they are open-minded) think their religion or at least one of the other two monotheist religions need to be followed for gaining salvation. -Christians think there is something like salvation -(critics against all religions by atheists: ) It's irrational -Christianity proclaims that everyone is a sinner by definition ...
My father and mother both hit me, everywhere, when I was little. And look, I turned out fine. I've had wooden spoons break on me... Then again, they were Russian Orthodox. *gags*
