I'm disappointed in myself for not being aware of this band prior to today. I loves me some melodic folk metal, so I'm kicking myself for not being aware of this band sooner.

Hel is no longer active (Sadness!) but apparently some of the members have formed Tales of Origin. ToO seems to be less folky than Hel, but I dig it, too.

Less folky? Sounds slightly more folky and less heavy than the Hel stuff. Good find.

Hel sounds like a heavier version of bands that Northside Records puts out. Hedningarna came to mind.

I guess it depends on which song. There was one song I found via YouTube that seemed hardly folky.
