I don't know if I'm the only one, but I miss the old Symphony X bass player. Although LePond is totally amazing, and compliments the band great, I kinda miss that guy who always used a fretless and threw random bass solos in songs. :D

I haven't seen them live, so I don't know if Mike can pull all the old stuff live, but from hearing V and The Odyssey, I would have to agree with you.

All you have to do is listen to "Live on the Edge of Forever" to know that Lepond can do whater Miller did, and then some.

I too like Miller better....it doesn't sound like he's playing a fretless though....he just had a really smooth, bassy tone.

I think he definately has more chops than LePond even though I think LEpond is an outstanding player.

Lepond adds a more aggressive riffing approach which I love though.

Lepond is also great to watch live. The guy is so energetic...it took the concert to a whole new level to watch him rock out and enjoy the music that much.

LePond can play anything Miller can play. I do agree that Miller was an excellent bassist, but LePond does an outstanding job so it doesnt matter to me.

Id say, Lepond can play anything any bassist can play.

Remember he is a personal bass teacher.

They both kick ass, because if they don't, probably none of them would ever play in a band like Symphony x...

Yes, Lepond can play all of Miller's stuff... but could he ever manage to write something like that? He sure hasn't shown me that this is possible yet.
