Some fans convinced Garm and co to allow them to help out on stage at the end of an Ulver concert in athens, the result:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExL8cvmdYSw&feature=related[/ame]

That ones missing the last 2 minutes, so to finish a lower quality version:

Judging by the amount of cameras out, for this once in a life time experience, I sure hope there's more sources on the tubes soon.

    FUCK YEAH ULVER :headbang:

Edit: Ahh, here we go... great audio for a cam:

Wait... is Garm not normally the singer for Ulver? The way I read your first sentence made me think that the FANS convinced Garm and co to let THEM (the fans) come on stage for something. </ignorance>

It's Ulver playing I Troldskog Faren Vild from Bergtatt. That has never (in any known fashion) happened before, as they stopped playing live shows (if they ever actually did play "live", the few shit quality videos in existence from 1993 show Ulver on a stage but there doesn't seem to be any sort of audience in sight) shortly after the release of the the Vargnatt demo.

So, this is the first time an Ulver stage (specifically Garm in this case) has hosted anything from their metal period in a live setting in 15+ years (if not the first time considering Ulver and the sketchy history surrounding the band), first time anything from Bergtatt has been played live, and the only song from their metal period to have been played since they began doing live shows (again?).

How this came about seems to be that a group of Ulver fans approached Garm about doing this as an encore (with them being members of the backing band for the performance) and he actually accepted the offer and it happened.

    I hope that was clearer.

Definitely, and that's actually totally awesome. I'm not familiar at all with Ulver, which is why I was so confused. So those are just random fans playing all the instruments and Garm singing...? Pretty epic.

It's also the best metal Ulver song! Garm handled those vocals really well. Sure proved me wrong about not being able to sing live.

Hey there peeps. I just happened to see this thread, I don't even browse this forum much, but I thought I'd comment since I...well, I had the honour of being there.

Here's how it happened. After finishing the 'regular' setlist (about 50 minutes), Ulver left, then after about one minute Garm came back onstage and said "That was it from us, but if you stay around for about 20 minutes, we're going to have a special treatment for you". At that point, they started bringing guitars onstage. At first some people, including I, thought that they would perform some songs by Arcturus, what with the recent rumours of them reuniting and all. It definitely seemed more possible than them playing their first song ever (which by the way yes, has never been performed live as far as I know)! Anyway, Garm came back with the session guitarist and 2 fans - just random fans I think - and he said that they decided to play the song that very moment. Best part is...they didn't even rehearse for it. He said that twice to stretch its importance. They just performed it straight on-stage.

I must admit, I got tears. It was... so fantastic. Bergtatt has always been one of my favourite albums of all time and I always thought to myself "Damn, I will never listen to this live". Well, not only did I see Ulver live, but they also played this black metal masterpiece. I feel like a dick coming here and being all like "Hey you guys, I was there, you were not", but it was outwordly. :) Definitely worth every fucking cent I paid for the ticket.

If that was supposed to be for me, then thank you.

Heh. And just think, they didn't rehearse that and he managed to sing it properly. He sang the rest of the songs way better, even better than in studio I could say. There's a reason why he's considered an ideal avant-garde vocalist ;)
