Doing a lot more cooking--getting groceries delivered (a lot of wholesalers doing home deliveries now--got to be patient with it, they're not used to the high volumes coming in). Days really blending together---looks like remote learning until the end of the school year, not really surprising. Get to teach WWII and the cold war in the upcoming weeks-- The constant ambulances going by at all hours, especially at night, is certainly unsettling. I know it's supposed to be plateauing here and hospitalization numbers are down--but we still have over six hundred people dying a day--very sad. It's got to be a nightmare at some of these hospitals. Just feeling lucky that me and the wife both have jobs and family members are doing okay.. Watching family feud at night is a nice way to turn the brain off--:erk::bah:

Not dead yet, so chalk that up in the win column. Still working as well, so there's another one. Writing, recording & experimenting with shit with the down time.

It was a rough week tbh. Finally feeling three kinds of grief all at once: separation, quarantine, and moving. Being totally alone during so much weirdness is kinda miserable.

let's look at the running score again

    deaths per 1M pop

    NORWAY: 43
    FINLAND: 56
    DENMARK: 97
    SWEDEN: 399

hmm. its almost like everything i said is coming to pass and we are needlessly killing our citizens for no gain. hmm. how about that. so weird.

The inconsistent messaging from leadership, local to global, has shocked me. This should be a unifying moment for humanity. It is not. And so, us plebeians are left to bicker over how to handle this, or to even agree on whether or not the plague exists (wtf?!), meanwhile the bodies continue to pile up. 345,000 and climbing.

Anyhow, my own personal timeline began with denial, moved to anxiety, and then has been on acceptance for at least a month now. Subtle bouts of rage here and there. Each stage accompanied by full blown alcoholism.

Dorian, I turn my blue porch light on for you each night. Other health workers too I suppose. I hope you're doing well. I'm out of scotch but I have more shipping my way this week. Huzzah!

swedish health authority recently commissioned a study to test a random sample of the population in sweden's three largest cities (stockholm, gothenburg, malmö) to see how many had antibodies against the virus, i.e. how far we are from herd immunity, which Chief Idiot In Charge Of Being An Arrogant Idiot anders tegnell claimed could happen in may

when the results came back as roughly 7%, he responded not by backpedalling but by claiming that the study (THAT THEY THEMSELVES DID OF THEIR OWN ACCORD BY THE WAY) was wrong and HE THINKS the real number is 20%

our leadership is so laughably incompetent that even random bozos like me can clearly tell that they consistently make the wrong predictions from broken data, yet no one talks about it

    thousands die

I'm sure there are millions of stupid Swedish people in Sweden, but just be glad that there aren't millions of stupid Americans in Sweden. Somehow we're still doing worse than you guys.

Good to know that Sweden is using Americamath as well.

Scientist: "We have the results you requested, the answer is 7."
Politician: "No good, I need 20."
Scientist: "But... we checked the math... we are confident that the answer is 7."
Politician: "Yes, I know things. It is 20. Leave now, witch!"

Jaysus. Same as it ever was, I suppose. Now with more death!

Yes the propensity of leaders to make sweeping decisions on the basis of big data simulations that prove barely significant the next day is frightening to say the least.

Meanwhile in America, 40,000,000+ unemployed, 100,000+ dead, major cities are on fire, and cops are shooting journalists.

The end times are coming along nicely.
