can't wait for this one

"Bollywood is re-making the 1969 British-action classic "The Italian Job" in a feature film called "Players," and we found some cool, behind-the-scenes, amateur footage of the team shooting on-location in New Zealand. There are only 23 classic Mini models in the whole country, and the production bought 9 of them! We'll keep you posted on the film's progress, but for now, check out the video featuring some classics"

    newb manual transmission question:

so- this ford focus feels great but it is still seeming pretty fucking jumpy to me. unless i accelerate/shift really slowly, the first and second gears engage roughly. it just sort of prevents me from driving fast without bucking down the road. i can get it to shift smoothly, it just seems to be way more delicate than what i am used to. like you have to release the clutch at a PERFECT time at at PERFECT rate. also, lets say I get up to 37mph and shift into 4th (the manual-recommended speed for doing so). i will accelerate up to about 40 and take my foot off the gas, the car sort of jumps/bucks a little bit. i dont think it's the clutch because the car definitely accelerates well and i don't smell any burning. perhaps the transmission? any words of wisdom? it took me a while to get used to this clutch, but i doubt that i did enough damage to totally fry it. i mean, it's not like i learned how to drive stick on this car (although I am no master). my dad said that it seemed to be in perfect condition when we did the test drive, so it didnt come this way. thanks... just trying to avoid paying 1-2K for repairs because I DO NOT HAVE IT. maybe i am just getting used to how a manual feels

What is it rpm'ing at 40mph? Is it winding up badly at that speed? The harder you push it, the more of a release you'll feel when you take your foot off the gas, as Im sure you know. Ive never seen a manual recommend a certain mph on when to shift. When I was learning how to drive (i learned how to drive on manual) I would go by the RPM's but not every car has that. After you get used to it, you just go by the feel of the engine.

It's tough to say exactly whats going on without actually driving the thing.

Also, as I was driving home tonight from my mother's house, I remembered when the hood of my Subaru XT randomly flew up into my windshield while driving home from work one day. Scared the living fuck out of me. I had to slowly pull over until I hit the curb as I couldnt see a godamn thing. Cracked up my windshield. I also remember there was a car coming the other way as it happened. That person must have had one hell of a laugh at my expense.

    That fucking car, man.

Is it time to change the gear oil? *Can* you change the oil in a Focus? I know some cars have non-serviceable sealed parts...like hubs and bearings and whatnot. Dunno much about Focuses.
Also, it might just be normal action of the clutch. Clutches feel different. Some are really loose and easy and lame-feeling. Others require brute force and are really uncomfortable.

re: shift points...Ford has always posted recommended speeds for shifting in their manuals. In the 80s their cars had actual "upshift" lights. It's not too unusual, really.
But, ftr, my recommendation for upshifting would be at the electronic fuel-cutoff point at redline :loco: why else do you have a manual?
