VOLBEAT Not Touring UK With STUCK MOJO - June 2, 2008
Danish metallers VOLBEAT have issued the following update:

"Last week it was announced on various websites that VOLBEAT were to tour the UK with STUCK MOJO in October 2008.

"These UK dates will not include VOLBEAT. VOLBEAT were never asked to play the UK with STUCK MOJO and the dates were announced without our consent.

"At this very moment we are laying the final touch on what is to be our third album, currently slated for a pan-European release in September. We look forward to returning to the UK in conjunction with this release."

VOLBEAT's third album, "Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood", is being recorded at Hansen studio in Ribe, Denmark with producer Jacob Hansen and contains 13 songs, seven of which share a common lyrical theme that will also be incorporated into the LP's artwork.

According to the band, "Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood" will include a cover of HANK WILLIAMS' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", and will feature an as-yet-undisclosed guest vocalist on the song "Mary Ann's Place", which continues the story of "Danny & Lucy", "Fire Song" and "Mr and Mrs Ness" from VOLBEAT's previous albums . The Danish limited edition of the CD will include a cover of KITTY WELLS' "Making Belive", which was inspired by SOCIAL DISTORTION's version of the same track.

Commented vocalist Michael Poulsen: "This is without no doubt the strongest songs we ever wrote — well, untill we release album No. 4, ha ha. Hey, what else are we supposed to say? But hey, WE MEAN IT. There will be different kind of surprises on the album, but we still sound 100% like VOLBEAT. Producer Jacob Hansen did a great job again and also did some backing vocals on some of the songs. As always, we don't try to brand ourself in one special music style; you can hear all our inspirations from different kind of music such as punk rock, heavy rock, country, metal, rock 'n' roll, pop rock, blues, gospel, garage and bla bla bla."

"The Strength, The Sound, The Songs", the debut album from Danish metallers VOLBEAT, has been certified gold in Denmark for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. The CD in 2006 became the first Danish heavy rock release in over 10 years to break the national Top 20.

VOLBEAT's sophomore album, "Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil", entered the Danish chart at No. 1 upon its release in late February 2007 and stayed in the Top 5 for three months. The LP was certified platinum in Denmark for sales in excess of 30,000 copies. According to the band, this marks the first time a Danish metal album has sold platinum in Denmark.

Didn't they cancel their ProgPower appearance the same way.And part of the reason I thought was to do this tour.

They cancelled to do a tour with in flames, and then canceled that tour to do their own headlining tour.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew the band it was referring to. This is going to make anything they say in the future hard to believe.

They "this includes the band, the manger, ect" need to get thier crap together. This continued saga is making them "ALL" look ignorant as hell.

Looks like a band actively trying to not be one to me.

Anxiously awaiting comment from someone in "the biz" to remind us all how Volbeat knows exactly what they're doing and how we don't understand the business end of things. Thanks, in advance.

After hearing Glenn's side of what happened with PP this year...I think this band has to seriously have a talk with their booking agents. It seems to me that there is absolutely no communication between the two...just observation though. Who knows...

Alright Rocky, I've been in a band for 9 months, so I obviously know a little about this.

What we have here is a classic case of "keeping them [the fans] wanting more"... or in this case, "keeping them [the fans] wanting some". Basically, the business plan is you keep giving your fanbase something, then taking it away. And it's a perfect model really, because look at any sort of abusive relationship, be it physical or psychological... how often do people really leave? No, the fans will stay around and as long as Volbeat and their management keep the "We do it because we love you" line and maybe deliver a show here and there, those fans will stick around with the band because "they only do it because they really care about us".

Isn't it obvious what's going on? Volbeat were scared to follow an awesome band like Stuck Mojo, high energy rockin tunes. After Mojo's set who would want to stick around for some Straytallica

No doubt that when bands pull shit like this they tend to lean heavily on the worst possible cliche/bullshit excuses. You've named a few, but here's a few more:

"Believe us, "Band X" wants to play this show just as much you you want them to."

"Yeah, but just wait until you see them/hear the new album, it'll just kick your ass. It'll be worth the wait"

"Between the touring manager, the band's management, booking agent, band members, the label, the promoter, there was some serious communication breakdown."

Speaking of Mojo, considering they are an Atlanta band, I'm surprised they've never been considered for an oddball slot or as part of the showcase.

Probably because they're rap-metal. I've been into them since day 1 though. I'm not a big rap fan, but Stuck Mojo is pretty damn cool in my book.

I intend to see them next Friday in Mokena, and if they're as energetic with Lord Nelson at the mic as they were with Bonz, I'll fully echo your sentiments... and I like Volbeat.

Mojo transcend all other rap metal bands. I think people who don't like rap would be surprised if they listened to one of their albums especially "Declaration of a headhunter" That shitz dope!
