I figured this deserved its own thread. Here is the email I just send Jennifer at InsideOut: Jennifer, I received my replacement disc today. Not only is it the proper aspect ratio, but the picture quality is so much better! There is no visible pixilation like the incorrect version had because of it being in the wrong ratio (especially in the darker shots). The previous one looked like a download or bootleg compared to this. Thanks again so much for staying on top of this! Im going to go crank it until my wife gets home from work. Best regards, Jeff So, almost a year later, I can finally enjoy it as it was meant to be.
Yeah I sent my old disc for a replacement about a week ago through priority mail. How much longer did you have to wait?
I'm happy for you, and especially for you Snowmaker, after so much insisting. Actually, I thought the replacement would never happen
So, do we just send an email to Jennifer to get instructions on how to get a replacement? Also, what exactly did you have to send to them? The complete DVD, case and all?
Email or call Jennifer Johnson. She'll take down your info and have you send in your NTSC disc 1 to get a new disc 1. They only have corrected disc 1's and not complete sets. And they only brought back so many from Germany last month, so the sooner you do it the better your chances.
Was your DVD a PAL or NTSC version? I'd very much like to have a PAL version in real 16:9 with better quality. So where should I send my DVD? I live in Finland.
Hey, Snowmaker... congrats on all your hard work finally paying off. I am curious to know if you had to wait a long time to get a response from Inside Out, or if you were forced to email them constantly. The reason I ask is that I sent them an email on 10/14/2005 and never got a reply. Since nothing was progressing with your inquiries I just let it go at the time. Anyway, after seeing you finally had success getting your replacement I sent another email yesterday. No response... <sigh>
Once I got in touch with Jennifer, all went pretty smoothly. There were times where a month or so would go by because she had no updates, but half the time she'd email me before I would finally decide to email again to see if there was any progress.
Finally got mine in the mail as well. Looks good here as well. Definitely 16:9 without the letterbox black bars on the top and bottom. I'd almost given up.....
Hey guys, thanks for this thread because I did purchased that DVD and it was, unfortunately, in the same format you guys had! So I emailed Jennifer at InsideOut on friday 5th of may and got a reply back on the next monday!! Talk about quickness!! (Obviously, I wasn't expecting an answer within the week-end!! Someone's got to have a break eh!! ) Anyways!! She replied saying I just have to send the disc back at the specified address and voila! MAN this is awesome!! Thanks for that thread again!
I recently purchased A Night To Remember directly from IO and think I might have received the flawed dvd however I can't tell for sure. The picture is very pixelated imho. Can someone with the updated version check and see if the dates on the files on the dvd are newer than mine which are 4/18/05? Edit: I opened the IFO file with ifoedit and it showed: Video Manager Menu attributes: Video: MPEG-2 720x480 (NTSC) (NTSC 525/60) (4:3) (not specified perm.display) SubPicture 1: Not Specified (2-bit rle ) I assume that means that it is indeed the flawed DVD since it's showing 4:3 as the aspect ratio? Thanks in advance, Andy
