I made something interesting out of my favorite Deathspell song.

As teh titlez states, I did a remix of sorts with First Prayer. I'd like to know what you people think about it. I just did it for fun, as I'd need permission from their label first to actually sell it. I'm thinkin about sampling some of the guitar parts as well, but I just used some of the chant only parts for now.

    Feedback please :)

And if you haven't heard this, you're terrible, but here's the link:

This sounds promising. You managed to maintain a similar feel even though you completely changed the genre. Three things stood out for me though.

First off, you'll definitely want to fix your snare and bass drum pattern. I'm not sure if you intended to have a broken beat or not, but I definitely think it would sound better if you had a regular pattern where the snare doesn't randomly alternate between the 2nd and 3rd beat. It really fucks with your head after a while.

Secondly, get some dynamics going in your music. Change the hi-hat velocities so it sounds more natural. Make some bass drum hit harder on certain spots, as well as the snare.

Finally, add some reverb to your drums! The samples are already mega-heavy on the reverb so when the beat comes in, you have this clash of wet+dry signals. This is especially true for your snare/clap.

All in all, you've done a good job on the remix. I think you should definitely go forward with the idea of sampling in the guitars as well to give it some spice after the bridge.

Yeah, I haven't added any affects to the drums at all, I only threw on some compressors. I do agree the snare could use some maybe, especially with the reverb of the sample. I thought about also throwing in some weird things like bongos to spice it up.

Thanks for the input though. I often run dry after a while and its nice to hear new ideas. The snare verb is definitely something that will be added.
