If you want instrumental, 'Behold... The Arctopus' are friggin' amazing...
    www.myspace.com/beholdthearctopus
    Obviously also Spastic Ink...

With singing, none really compare with Oyvind's voice IMO, closest probably are the previously mentioned Twisted Into Form, then there's the obviously influential bands of Watchtower and Psychotic Walz...

Metal Blade has long re-released the stuff with opulent bonus material, don't you know?

I looked in their store and they don't even have psychotic waltz listed in the bands list.

I've never actually seen any of their cd's anywhere either... Doesn't mean they don't exist, but it still doesn't help me...

Don't forget about Aghora. 1st album features the rhythm section that played on Cynic's album...

A band from the past worth checking out is Mekong Delta. The same goes for the 1st album of Sieges Even.

And THE band unbelievable amazing, despite the deathish vocals, must be Coprofago!!! Check their Unorthodox Creative Criteria and thank me forever!!!

Check out italian jazz metal band Ephel Duath. Their "The Painter's Palette" CD has both a screamer and a clean vocalist.

Aye, Ephel Duath owns fairly hard.
But I wouldn't really compare it to Spiral Architect at all.

    Check out Anchorhead ^^
    Star Wars Tech Metal

Just downloaded Canvas Solaris - Penumbra Diffuse, after reading a lot about it here.

Didn't like it at all. Kept repeating itself way too much. Sounds like they don't really know what to do with their music.

Spastic Ink owned on the other hand. Thanks for that one; will buy as soon as I find it.

My advice? Get both Spastic Ink albums. And Ron's new project Blotted Science when that comes out. ;)
