Folk should definately check out Zero Hour, perhaps a little more proggy, less techy, but very much as awesome! :headbang:

i love zero hour. their newest album is phenomenal (besides the fact that two of the seven tracks are short instrumentals). their old singer sort of sounded like the singer of my band. yet another band i wish would come somewhere around here.

Anyone mentioned Martyr yet? If not, Prog/Tech Death from Quebec, Canada.

Most simple description is a mix of Death and Meshuggah.

^ Very awesome, just wish it were instrumental, the vocals wear very thin, very quickly...

    surprised Sikth hasn't been mentioned
Textures is also very good...think meshuggah with a more "euphoric" atmosphere? mix between clean and non clean vocal styles

Only demo songs so far, but the newer ones especially are worth checking out: All Hope Universal and Blame.

Hm, not bad - the fusion part I can agree with, but the progressive side of it...? It sounds like a lot of other jazzy-fusion type of bands to me.

I have a few suggestions more on the fusion front; but all have a metal side to them
    Matalex Wild Indian Summer
Carpathia Project (Just Awesome) Combines Hungarian music with fusion and touches of metal
Counter World Experience If you like 7 for 4 you should love this band; a bit more metal based as well
    The first Gordian Knot album
Spaced Out (The bass player is one of the best I heard)
    Zeroesque
Fragile Live (Simply blistering guitar work)
On The Virg Serious Young Insects (Awesome)

Is Fragile Live the name of the band or is Fragile the name of the band and it's a live album?

The Fractuded Dimension from US (very eclectic mix of prog rock, prog & tech metal + some classical music) they have a CD, TOWARDS THE MYSTERIUM featuring Ron Jarzombek (among other guests) on one of their tracks. http://www.myspace.com/thefractureddimension

You may also find interesting Drottnar's Welterwerk album from 2006, very interesting technical / experimental / extreme metal.
