Oh yeah I also need to say, Finntroll are FANTASTIC live.

Support the promoters bringing 'em out and grab tickets if you can afford them - you won't be disappointed.

Certainly the one that caught my eye. There's been a few promised tours over the years, so I cant wait for something official.

From memory Robotman had info that it was signed and sealed for early 2008, but all plans got thrown out the door with Barlow returning.

Drifter - that is very true.

Jon Schaffer told me on the cruise that yes, two years ago it was practically signed sealed delivered that they were touring Australia.

Although he said it fell through because the GFC hit and the US$ went down the toilet.

I'm not that excited about an Iced Earth tour as I would have been ten years ago.

Yea agreed on Iced Earth completely. Similar story for Sonata Arctica too now...unless Jani comes back. For me the pants got filled by Epica!!! I'm still thrashing Design your own universe.

I'd definitely attend Iced Earth. I haven't listened to them in fucking ages but Barlow is still one of my favourite vocalists. Would love to see him live.

They were awesome live. Barlow really strains himself to hit the notes but still does it perfectly.

And Jon is such an overwhelming prescence of awesome on stage.

Before the second Iced Earth show on 70,000 Tons, Jon and the guys were onstage doing their own soundcheck. That was pretty cool in itself, but then they broke into a jam of a song (I think it was Burning Times), and the crowd started singing the lyrics! It was epic.

I got the chance to speak to Isaac from Epica for a good half an hour at one stage - he was waiting by the doors to go in and watch the second Sonata Arctica show which was kind of cool :)

He told us that a promoter tried to get Epica out to Australia a few years ago, but the promoter wanted to cut the band down to 5 band members, and they could only bring one roadie! So yeah - obviously that fell through.

This is actually the norm for a lot of the smaller tours as who can afford guitar techs, roadies, etc? Two people max on top of the band members (generally sound and guitar tech). :)

I remember seeing Barlow at Wacken in 1999 and it was amazing. To see them in 2007 with Ripper was awesome too. Would love to see them again with Barlow.

If Iced Earth make it to our shores, I will definitely make it to at least one show no matter where they play!!
I would give anything to hear Matt Barlow performing live.

What songs did they do on the cruise, Cowboy?

I'm guessing there'd be no chance of Amanda Sommerville coming with them then....probably even if they come some time soon :(

I'd love them to bring the whole "We will take you with us" crew :D

Yeah I had frikkin GOOSEBUMPS when they played Watching Over Me.

Red - you'll love this (sorry oh mighty mod-people if this is a bit off topic).

On the boat, there was Karaoke. A lot of the bands joined in the fun too. Like this - Matt Barlow doing Karaoke to Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd:
