Nice review Gore
Were you there Stephen? I thought I saw you sitting on the stairs but when I looked around again you were gone.
Yep, was on the dancefloor though.
Edit: I was sitting on the stairs outside venue if that's what you mean?
I got there early to sell a spare ticket, I got $90 for it then waited around for friends to arrive.
Great day yesterday - Murderdolls were awesome, Slayer and Rob Zombie killed, Maiden ruled.
I didn't think much of Zombie to be honest. Murderdolls were much better. Slayer cancelled. Monster Magnet were brilliant. Gang of Four was a real highlight. Dimmu were ok. Kylesa and High on Fire fucking slayed. Taking Dawn were entertaining. Nonpoint surprised me, I quite liked them. Terror was insane. Iron Maiden ruled of course, but you all knew that.
Taking Dawn were fun - Seeing them again tonite Brisbane 'sidewave' with Coheed & Cambria and Slash
Soundwave review, written by some hack.
Good to see you Stephen, did you find your band mates..... hey spotted you at soundwave too...... . i was in hurry to go to loo so did'nt stop to say hello
Cheers, yep found band mates both past and present.
Soundwave was a last minute decision, went on the day and scored a spare ticket out the front for $100.
Makes up for selling my spare ticket on Thursday for $90 - Even Stephen!
Cool, economics was the winner on the day ....
Saw Taking Dawn, Coheed & Cambria, and Slash last night.
Taking Dawn are a fun band. Very LA, very rockin', very enjoyable. Hope those boys go far.
Coheed....wow. How does that voice, come out of that man? Complex, rivetting music. Loved every second and then when they closed with Welcome Home....amazing.
Slash was Slash. Guitar work was incredible, perfect. But Myles doing Velvet Revolver and Gunners songs (Night Train, Civil War, etc) I dunno - just didn't seem to 'fit'. Maybe if I wasn't so familiar with his voice from being a long-time fan of Alterbridge I might have got more out of it. There was a sense of .... detachment for me.
But still - top night. As far as I was concerned I'd got my money's worth by the time Coheed walked off stage

Next up for us - FINNTROLL with CLAIM THE THRONE in a couple of weeks!
Adler's Appetite gets my vote for best Guns n Roses band.
Short notice, but if anyone in Melbourne likes funny/weird noise music, it looks like one of my favourite New Zealand bands Full Fucking Moon is playing there tonight and again next week.
Mar 5 - KIPL, Melbourne (with Aux Assembly, Dead Boomers, DEAD, Mad Nanna)
Mar 10 - Gasometer, Melbourne
Mar 12 - Sunshine & Grease, Melbourne (3pm, with Prehistoric Fuckin' Moron, Javier Frisco, Reunion Sacred Ibis, Mad Nanna)
Mar 12 - The Old Bar, Melbourne (with A DJ Called Matt)
I reviewed one of their shows here. Funny stuff.
Soundwave kicked arse. That is all.
Tell me about it. It was amazing.
I saw Primus for the first time live and loved them. Shit weather, but the music made up for it. It's good to see they've improved on numerous things too. Beer isn't $8 a can now.
Really ?? It was in Brisbane:
shit , in sydney it was $6 ...I am sure of it for" Blondes "there
Ahhhh you guys still do the token system for drinks. That was soooooooooo shit last year. So glad they got rid of it this year in Sydney, it did however make me drink more
Is anybody going to SWANS at the Metro this Sat? I've been listening to them a tonne lately and the live videos of seen are stunning. Should be getting a ticket this week
