Thanks cowby for keeping us in the loop! makes life so much more enjoyable,

Im hoping they are keeping it at Olympic Park this year again, If so I'll be coming to the Sydney show, Brisbane was just too fucking hot and a huge mess trying to get from one stage to another!
People in QLD dont know how to drive nor do they know how to navigate a festival!

Yeah I tried the website but there was nothing there other than in the forum, so I gave up. Couldn't be bothered wading through 65,000 pages.

I also went to see Kyuss the other night. They were excellent. The Palace Theatre was packed and everyone was very happy. I was thankful that Josh Homme wasn't there, for imagine how many dickheads would have been in attendance.

I know! How good were they? Outstanding in Brisbane :D

You seeing Alestorm tonite in Melbourne? They were a blast in Brisbane - played 3 new songs ("This, is a song about rum. It is called....RUM"), and all my favourites like Wenches and Mead, and Nancy The Tavern Wench. Great night.

Was the Brisbane show sold out like it was here? I wouldn't be surprised if they returned sometime.

Alestorm are one of those bands I've heard a few songs of, but that's all. If I get to anything else this month it'll be Suicidal Tendencies and The Haunted.

    July 31 - Perth
    Aug 6 - Melbourne

I'm sure there will be other cities but that's all I know at this stage.

High Voltage Touring are bringing them out here.

Fucking bastards! That, and Soundwave Revolution = expensive month.

Seen Blind Guardian twice already this year though thanks to 70000 Tons of Metal, so not 100% sure I'll make the trip down to sydney or Melb for it :(

Tickets $69.50 - pretty reasonable really (EXACTLY the same price as when they were in melb in 07):

    Melbourne - http://www.metalmassacre.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=11&products_id=5130
    Sydney - http://www.metalmassacre.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=11&products_id=5131

I could get return flights to Sydney for about $100, so under $200 to see them for the 5th time? Tempting...

Or I could go to Melbourne - Soundwave Revolution on the Friday, BG on the Sunday........

Looks like venues are THE FACTORY in Sydney and BILLBOARD in Melbourne.

I don't know exactly... but it's probably about half the size (if not less) of the venue they played in Melbourne last time

Do you honestly think Blind Guardian will do better than somewhere like the Factory? At $70 a shot ($15 more than The Haunted and presumably more than Morbid Angel), a week after Soundwave Revolution? I don't.

According to this, the capacity is 450 !

Venue in Melbourne (Billboard) capacity is about 900.

I have a feeling this was done in an attempt to de-stablise other festivals - it's not technically "Soundwave", it's a different event.

Well I think Nik is actually doing the right thing this time and using a small room almost certain to sell out rather than a 3000 capacity place. BG may well do better than I anticipate, but they certainly aren't Enmore status.
