Yeah my thoughts exactly. Everyone has to start at some time I guess, but I wouldn't be rushing to buy tickets!

And that tour poster.... My three year old could design better.

"Sasquatch will be performing solo at these dates…ripping some unreal guitar solos."

Seriously? What's the point of that?

$200 meet and greet tickets, no supports named, the website has a slideshow of other people's events under its flash banner giving the impression that they're the promoters of it, and the bluepalmtouringcompany.com domain was registered less than a month ago.

I'd like to give these guys the benefit of the doubt - and I DO sincerely wish them the best if they are indeed legit, we need good quality promoters - but I honestly expect to hear of a "postponement" at the very least sometime soon.

Didn't Lita get massived fucked over by a promoter on an Aussie tour many years ago and you and some others stepped in to help, LT?
Or am I getting confused again?

Either way, seems that she doesn't have much luck with Aussie promoters and her own management might want to look at themselves if things go the proverbial "tits up" on this tour.

This is another tour I'd watch out for. Regardless of the line up.

It is to expensive and the promoter of Stone Music has been challenged by Andrew McManus. McManus says the tour will most likely flop. This is due to the Stone Music having no credentials in the Australian music scene or possibly the funds to pay for Van Halen and anyone else on the line-up.

After what happened with Van Halen and Soundwave Revolution, I doubt they'd be playing here unless they're 1000% confirmed and paid well in advance.

In regards to the Lita Ford tour. All promoters send out press releases so the general public know the event is on. There has been shit all done to promote this tour on their behalf which leads me to believe they have no idea what they're doing or relying on word of mouth to sell tickets...and yes, the tour poster looks like garbage.

$200 for a meet and greet is fucked beyond belief. No offense to the general demographic who listen to Lita Ford, but majority would be bogans who can't even afford to pay for their alcohol and or cigarette addiction. Why take a massive dump on their respected chests with such a ludicrous price tag?

Seriously. What the fuck?!? These promoters need to be punched in the dick several times. That Oceanic Sharks wanker is a prime example.

It's easy to sell something to the general public who aren't weary or cautious of promoters like this. The public get stars in their eyes with some of the names that get mentioned on line ups, but forget how ridiculously expensive it is to pay for visas, accommodation and additional costs, moreso in Australia.

There seriously needs to be music ombudsmen who control how bands come into Australia. If you're going to put on a tour. For fuck sake do it right!

No, that was Doro. She was coming out for that Destruction Of Oz fest and it fucked up royally, then Steve Ravic brought her out, and Dungeon was looking after a lot of the tour logistics.

Edguy 2004 was the same situation too. Hooray when the support band holds things together when the promoter drops the ball, hey?

OK, cool. Was right about female metal singer fucked over by dodger bastards and saved by the bands part.
Not really that uncommon on any level of the music scene. Way back when had to step in to save some Aussie national band tours because the person who was meant to promote it fucked off before things got under way, leaving many bands with hotels booked and paid for but no venues or supports.

What exactly motivates these people? I can understand that it would be cool to bring out a band you like and get the plaudits that come with a successful tour, but why would anyone want to fuck up royally like some have? Or do they start with good intentions, but are too unprofessional to pull it off?

    People are clueless.

"Hey, I like X band! If they come out and we sell 1000 tickets at $70 each, that's $70,000! Fuck yeah! We'll be rich!"

... minus the band fee... minus the flight costs... minus the venue hire... production costs... staff... crew... hotel rooms... catering... transport... daily allowance... advertising, etc. etc. etc.

And then there's all of the logistics like work visas, etc.

And then after all that, if anyone drops the ball, that 1000 tickets could easily be 200 tickets. Suddenly all of that money they had to pay the band and all of the other expenses is not only gone but in the massive negatives.

"But we were gonna make a shitload! What happened?! Quick, we still have $14,000. Let's fuck off quick with it now before anyone notices"

And there you have it - every fly-by-night promoter summed up right there.

I don't remember which tour it was (this is going back a while), but I remember talking with a "lesser known" international band that came out. They were bitching because the "promoter" had factored in every cost into the tour... except how the band was supposed to get between shows. They had tickets into and out of Australia, but landed with no way of getting gear to the venue or to the next city

They where saved eventually by the main support having organised a mini-bus for themselves with spare seats

I doubt we will see an end to this problem anytime soon.

I remember when Doro was suppose to come out with Sodom, Mayhem and a couple of others bands during the early 2000s for a mini festival in Melbourne.

I can't remember the name of it, but long story short the promoter ran off with all the money before the tour could even get off the ground. I think that was my first experience with shitful promoters in this country.

This is almost exactly what happened with Edguy 2004 in fact.
