Now we know why she wasn't in the Vixen reunion.

On a whim, today I check this board after an absence of a few years and I see this posting...Wow! That is so sad. Jan was such a pioneer for paving the way for female lead guitarists. I live in Minneapolis / St Paul, where Jan was from, and I always used to remember club owners brag about how Vixen played at so and so club. As a guitarist, it was such a feeling of pride to be playing on the same stage that Jan had also played on. Those days of the innocence of being a musician were magical. I don't care if saying that makes me sound like a "Midwest hick", but I think it is a shame of how little notice she got on this board of her passing. Vixen mattered and were famous worldwide. What Jan accomplished in her career is what millions of musicians can only hope for.

Thanks for posting this Danny. You Rock!

You don't sound like a midwest hick at all you sound sincere and those were magical timed when we were young and getting in to the scene. I miss those days of my youth.

I remember when cassette singles first came out, I was in a record store, and they were giving out free Vixen cassette singles so I grabbed one. I think it had 2 songs. Popped it into my car on the way home.

Thanks Danny. All I can say is that Jan dying really brought back some memories. I spent a lot of time last weekend just watching and listening to You Tube videos of her playing. It was exactly the same thing that I did when Kelly Johnson of Girlschool died ( another great artist that you posted an R.I.P. about). Damn, but I am now 50 years old and make good money at my job etc., but I lost something along the way. These awesome female lead guitarists who are no longer here on earth, they lived that dream and wrote such great music for people to enjoy. Listening to that guitar again...and getting back in touch with rock music. Musicians really need to support and love one another because a lot of other people surely never will...It is a cold world out there without music and the arts...
