Picked up today: Grand Magus - Iron Will from 2008.

Honestly, this is the band that Dream Evil want to be when they grow up.
Nothing against that band but can't be playing semi-parody metal songs forever.

While Grand Magus strike what metal the new wave of old school metal followers should be like. :headbang:

    Dungeon- Resurrection (Original)

Really happy with this purchase. Great hearing what everyone has been talking about when comparing this version with the re-recorded one. Its hard to tell which one I prefer as they both have their own kind of charm. I do prefer the drums on the original over the re-recorded (Except maybe the hi-hats but I don't really like them too much anyways), they sound a lot more natural and blend a bit better (Except the Hi-Hat). The re-recorded version is a bit more in control but has a bit of a boxy sound (Not really a bad thing in this case). Possibly because of the added definition in the mids as well as being a more phase coherent mix.

Also thanks to Master_ov_Reality for giving me the opportunity to own a piece of Aussie metal history!

It's kind of sad about the budget cuts in the middle of the OSB/Res'05 sessions, I think we could have done a much better job on both of them (OSB especially) given a bit more support from the label, and less band politics at the time. It ain't gonna happen but I think we'd come up with a MASSIVE sounding recording of both of those albums if we did them again now.

Maybe........there could be a re-mastered album of everybody's favourites? The big songs.
Just dreaming..........I'll shut up now. ;)

Yeah OSB, even though its my favorite Dungeon Album it can sometimes be hard to listen to on cheaper sound systems and headphones. Theres just a bit of crucnhyness/ sandyness (!? Its hard to describe). But I do listen to OSB more than any other album I have. The awesomeness of the music makes up for the flaws in the production.

    Entwine: Rough n Stripped
Evergrey: Glorious Collision limited edition (no, haven't listened to it yet)

Also, for anybody interested, www.amazon.co.uk have the pre-order available for the new Avantasia: The Flying Opera (2 DVD / 2 CD) for 16 pounds (and if you order over 25 pounds worth it's free shipping to Australia). It actually comes down to 13 pounds once Amazon removes the VAT. If you get it for 13 pounds that's $22-$23.

It's the full album. They had lined up their CD launch for April 8th but that might be pushed back (the CD launch, not the gig which is Elm Street, DA, and Black Majesty at the Espy). Just waiting back to hear from the guys.

(and the album sounds GREAT too). :)
