I may be completely unhinged here, but would anyone else here consider Teräsbetoni as a potential act to play at PP, even in the showcase?
I mean, "viking metal" is still power metal, more or less, yeah?

    What an obscure choice.

I think there's always the chance. This band is really more power metal'ish than some other viking metal bands. But it just requires the right amount of hype and album sales. A great performance that is well revered at another fest would go along way.

Its a shame that the Heathen Crusade fest is at an end.

Obscure indeed. I would not mind seeing Teräsbetoni, but I think its an improper fit for PP (for the record, I think TYR is too, but I understand... and appreciate... Glenn's willingness to open his wings a bit more).

no kidding....with the popularity of Pagan metal....the fest has come to an end. But like ProgPower opening the door to so many bands being able to finally tour here and getting the attention they deserve....Heathen Crusade helped out with getting attention for the pagan style bands. Something about traveling in the cold months up north just didnt ever seem fun.

why would you want a band that tours regularly at the showcase.....wouldnt you rather see a new band that deserves the attention.

Given that Teräsbetoni sounds like Manowar with Finnish lyrics, I guess they'd probably fit.

metalsped - Tyr isn't any more of an odd choice than Volbeat, DSO, Mustashe, etc...

Fine with me as long as they don't have any FLAMING SWORDS!

We had Wuthering Heights with the Celtic Metal. Why not have some Viking Metal. We are an equal opportunity Metal Festival.

    Try living there!

I love all kinds of metal... So I'm open to just about anything... although I would prefer Finntroll or Korpaklaani for the show case. But I'm looking forward to Tyr.

It is kind of an odd fit, but Glenn likes to throw in an odd ball band ever year. Freak Kitchen, DSO, Elvenking - need I say more?

    Wait a minute!

    NO Flaming Sword?

    what?

that is not a metal statement. Every show needs a flaming sword or two.
(or an axe, an axe will work just fine)

I like the idea of adding Viking/Pagan/Battle bands to the PPUSA/Showcase rosters!

I've only been the last two years, but it seems that at least the headliner of the showcase is a band that tours regularly. Plus, usually Turisas is an opener and for them to be a headliner or secondary band on the showcase could work. Then again, they're sort of out of place with the fest genre-wise. Then again, TYR is playing next year so who knows?

This. I'd love to see a nice, long headlining set from Turisas...really, after two good tours through here (PaganFest and then opening for DF), they're about ready to headline on their own, whether at the PP Showcase or on a "small halls" (c 1,000 cap) tour.
