KATATONIA Announces 'Sky Void of Stars' Album, Shares 'Atrium' Single
    https://blabbermouth.net/news/katatonia-announces-sky-void-of-stars-album-shares-atrium-single

Swedish melancholic metallers KATATONIA will release a new studio album, "Sky Void of Stars", on January 20, 2023 via Napalm Records.

KATATONIA comments on "Sky Void Of Stars": "Our 12th album, 'Sky Void Of Stars' is a dynamic journey through vibrant darkness. Born out of yearning for what was lost and not found, the very peripheries of the unreachable, but composed and condensed into human form and presented as sounds and words true to the KATATONIA signum. No stars here, just violent rain."

ALBUM REVIEW: Katatonia – ‘Sky Void Of Stars’
    https://thesoundboardreviews.com/2023/01/16/album-review-katatonia-sky-void-of-stars/

"Katatonia are a very good band. They’d have to be given the career path they’ve gone on, making the jump from death metal to something more progressive and gothic, without invoking the ire of metal fans who’ll have a conniption if you even indirectly gesture towards something lighter. All the while, critical acclaim has almost always been theirs, right up to the current post-hiatus work that plenty would struggle to get to the same standard after so long. Truly, the hallmarks of a very good band. A great one, though? Well…"

Sky Void of Stars is set for release on January 20.

Interview: Katatonia’s Drummer Mojjo Discusses the Brilliant Sky Void of Stars

"I was immediately taken by how direct it was compared to City Burials [2020], which was more ambient and electronic in a way and also more progressive and technical. So, hearing the demo for Sky Void of Stars immediately sent me to some sort of stage mode. These are songs that are meant to be performed live. And the whole album has that feeling of being on tour almost, for me, in the band. It’s dark and bleak but very intense and forward."
