Lol, well it seems Facebook is already starting to forget and is back to posting about about the yummy sandwich they made, how much they plan to drink on the weekend and all the usual stuff
2 of those were thought up myself. (the motivational one as well as the most interesting man in the world one)
But I got a good laugh from the last one because that is exactly what will happen.
That's why. Nobody has to prove it, it's right there for anyone to go check out, publicly accessible records. If they spent 68% on aid and 32% on salaries/travel/transport/film nobody would have a problem.
Again, everyone totally agrees the situation regarding Kony is real - that's not the issue. Spending ~$2M on the situation and ~$6M on creating awareness for it is fucking retarded - that's the issue. As a result, the "piece of shit organization" label. I would seriously hope their efforts to be heard were fairly articulate given that they spent ~$6M doing so. Why would they come out and say that the majority of the funds they receive for the cause don't actually go to the cause? Of course they wouldn't do that. Unfortunately for them a NFP organization's records are public, and the records don't lie.
Support the cause, that is great, everyone should if they can - just don't do it with IC if you truly intend to actually help. It's awfully funny the issue with them and their fund management comes up over, and over, and over...
Also, I can't wait for the next season of BB.
Great, can't respond to posts that empirically proves yours wrong without resorting to sarcastic memes.
Well I give up... as they say, there's a sucker born every minute. It's just hilarious to me the amount of people that just took the video and ran with it. Totally ignoring bothersome things like, you know, facts or the truth. Cheers to those that actually did research the organization and it's history before jumping on the misinformed, gullible bandwagon.
is this the wrong thread to post a clip of "African Child"?
My wife and her family have lived and worked in several African countries. In line with their experiences there is no way I would ever donate financially to any charitable organisation aimed at Africa no matter how well meaning. It is well established that the money doesn't reach the people it is intended for, instead funding the lifestyles of people like Amin and Mugabe, or arming military or paramilitary groups.
If you really have got all you need or want and nobody around you needs help then, hey, good for you. If you genuinely want to make a difference to the lives of people in Africa the best thing you can do is go there and do something for somebody with your own time, labour or money without involving anyone else.
I don't quite understand this argument. Even if they did spend $6 million on all their videos (11 iirc, so let's say $1 million on this latest one?), given the reaction its gotten I'd say its well spent, and may do more than if they'd spent it quietly helping out. I'm NOT saying I agree with them, or whatevers going on because as usual the truth is an odd shade of grey. But attacking them for spending lots of money on a video that has had a pretty incredible reaction is an odd thing to do - chances are they're going to regain all the money they spent on that, and then some, and get a fuckton more aid than they would have already.
Because IC has been doing it for a few years now... Sure the videos are great and get tons of attention and lots of donations. Donations which they continuously mismanage and end up spending the majority on salary and more film making, among other things - instead of spending the majority on the cause.
Oh and, you know, the whole fact of the matter that they made a video presenting some issues in Uganda that haven't been present since 2006 to get more donations to mismanage.
The Sad part about this is.....making a video to present issues in Uganda should'nt take but $24.00 if that.....Video camera...I'm sure they already have, laptop with windows XP or better....I'm sure they already have, windows movie maker on pc....comes with windows xp or better....I made this
and cost me just that....nothing
...I'm just going to leave this here for a sec. Feel free to lol.
