    New Lineup

    September 1, 2012
    geoff

I’m sure the last few months have been very frustrating for you.
I know they have been for me.
There are so many questions and so few answers.

It is said that adversity makes one stronger. Well, I’m definitely in a better place now than I’ve ever been before. I feel very positive and excited.

The challenge, when you’re in a creative environment, is keeping things fresh and invigorating, and after working with the same people for thirty years, it gets very difficult—You walk into the room, and everybody knows what everyone is going to do. There’s no spark, the chemistry is very tried and true and you just keep coming up with the same ways of expressing yourself.

Today is a new day and I am thrilled to announce the new Queensrÿche.

Joining me are: Rudy Sarzo, Bobby Blotzer, Glen Drover, Kelly Gray and Randy Gane.

Together we shall embark on a new musical journey that will be a greater extension of where Queensrÿche has ever been.

With this new project, with these new people, it’s a whole new scene. There are new ideas, different musical backgrounds and a whole new set of parameters. Everyone has ideas you haven’t heard before, and everyone is throwing them against the wall and suddenly … the music has a whole new life.

I look forward to this new life and I hope to see you on tour as all of us come together and begin this new era.

    Geoff Tate

it's a given i would think. BB is solid drummer, but not Scott. i guess if they plan on just playing newer stuff he can manage it. hahaha.

So instead of actually doing that, we'll just go back to the cash cow and do what has been done a bunch of times before....Operation: Mindcrime.

    From http://www.bravewords.com/news/194399 :

Further laying down the gauntlet and keeping the music he's created over the past three decades alive, QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist and founding member Geoff Tate will be taking the newly-announced line-up on the road next year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the band's epic 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime.

The tour - with dates slated to begin in April (see below) - will feature the arsenal of bassist Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE/QUIET RIOT/WHITESNAKE/DIO), drummer Bobby Blotzer (RATT), guitarist Kelly Gray (Queensrÿche/MYTH) and keyboardist Randy Gane (Myth) along with special guest appearances and plenty of surprises.

"It's great to be performing with all of these guys who have been true friends for years," comments Geoff. "Kelly, Randy and I formed Myth more than 30 years ago and I've known Rudy and Bobby for several years as well. I think we are all inspired by the collaboration and couldn't be more excited to bring it to our fans next year."

In 2006, Queensrÿche brought the theatrical interpretation of the Mindcrime saga to audiences all over the world.

A year later, the band would release Mindcrime at the Moore, a double DVD featuring the theatrical performances of both Operation: Mindcrime I & II albums that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD Chart.

The DVD set would mark the band's first #1 chart debut, quickly achieving gold status, selling over 50,000 units.

The performance of Operation: Mindcrime next spring will cover all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as 'Revolution Calling', 'Operation: Mindcrime', 'I Don't Believe in Love', and the closing track, 'Eyes of a Stranger'.

It will also feature other selections from the Queensrÿche catalog including songs from Operation: Mindcrime II.

Queensyrche, or Tate at least, LOVES Albuquerque. I do not know why. After the last show...the Rage For Order/Empire/American Solider tour...I swore I wouldn't go see them again (that was maybe the 8th time I've seen them). I did like hearing Rage songs. They weren't quite up to snuff, but the memories made it okay. Empire was rough. American Solider made me sick to my stomach (no, literally, my stomach dropped as I listened to what they had become). I did see the Mindcrime 1&2 show also. It was....okay. And this is coming from someone who rates OM as his number one album. Would I go again? SHOULD I go again? If the ticket is like twenty bucks, then it might be a nights entertainment I suppose. But its just not the same. And never will be.

MAXINE opened up for his stop in "Detroit" last month. We had a short setlist, right before their tour bus arrived LATE AS HELL, and set up as soon as we got off the stage.

We had a better response and a bigger audience than Geoff did.

I will not recommend anyone bother seeing his show. Geoff Tate's best years are long gone, and his new songs are stagnant, trodding, and nothing a high school band couldn't come up with.

Who are people going to pay money to see? Geoff playing the classics with not one other founding member of QR, or Todd with 3 founding members of QR? It's going to be awesome to see how ticket sales compare for the "old" and "new" versions of QR. I think Geoff's going to get spanked.
