    Video, funny!

    Previews, funny!

Also, the re-recordings are almost a joke? They sound like cover band demos, just sad.

wow! I honestly wanted to give Tate's version of Ryche a chance. I honestly thought he was going to go really heavy based upon the interviews I've read, but even when the music sounds decent in a couple of places, the vocals are so horrid, that it absolutely ruines it.....Big Big mistake releasing this...So far most of the reviews on Itunes of the samples are 1 star....
I agree about recording some originals songs. Don't ever re-record orginal songs unless you think you make them sound better, because these are horrible! What was he thinking???

There's GOT to be something wrong with the export for the re-recordings. I'm in my studio and it's all center channel in mono except for some of the vocals, which come in and out of stereo on certain lines and the reverb. The question is.....WHY? you can't top the production on the original Empire, it's one of the best-produced and sonically perfect rock albums of all time. Traded a freaking live orchestra from the original for VSTs on Silent Lucidity? It's not like he re-imagined the songs...

I can tell that's Craig playing the guitar, riffing definitely sounds like him on the new material where it's a little heavier, and that's the high point for me for sure.

Did they sample a basketball for some of the drums and pitch shift it for the various drums? On some songs they literally sound like drums from the 70's. In a bad way.

    /cries/

You are right, Tate doesn't know what heavy is, which is why he always says "heavy" before every cd that he releases...

Geoff Tate's QUEENSRŸCHE To Remix New Frequency Unknown Album Due To "Fan Complaints"

The Geoff Tate-fronted QUEENSRŸCHE have decided to remix their upcoming album, Frequency Unknown, after fan complaints about the sound. An official statement from the band's label Deadline Music/Cleopatra Records reads as follows:

"Since previews of the new Queensrÿche album were made available to the general public on iTunes and other digital retailers, some of the response has been less than positive. Some complained about the overall quality of the recordings, and in particular the mix. We here at Deadline Music have the utmost confidence in the powerful songwriting and outstanding performances from Geoff Tate and crew on this album, but we also want the fans to know that we are listening to them as well! So, in the interest of democratic free choice, Deadline Music has commissioned the superbly talented musician/producer Billy Sherwood (ex-YES) to remix the album. Now fans will be able to decide which mix they feel best represents the album: the original mix, which will be released on April 23rd, or the new mix by Billy Sherwood that will be made available at a future date to be announced…. WE REMIX, YOU DECIDE!"

I think the last time something like this happened was Nevermore's Enemies of Reality which was remixed by Andy Sneap and was originally produced by...Kelly Gray...hmmmmmm???? Coincidence??

Having heard some stuff from both versions of Ryche, I'd have to say I like the non-Tate version much better. Plus there's less chance of band members being attacked. What isn't to like? :kickass:

Saw the Todd version in Tampa and and twice on Monsters of Rock Cruise and it just got better and better...Awesome!
The band confirmed that whatever was previously released as a snipet of the new record was
not a final mix and of course not mastered. Looking forward to this release indeed.

Just got back from seeing ToddRyche at Mohegan Sun in CT, all I can say is WOW! Todd is the real deal and the band sounds better and is more energetic on stage than when I saw them with Tate last year in NH

I think that this is the bottom line here. I mean I haven't read one review from those who've seen the ToddRyche who didn't really enjoy it, but yet over the last couple of years, I've known plenty who were disappointed at seeing QR, prior to their breakup.....

and the comedy continues, from Billy Sherwood's personal FB page:

I've withdrawn from mixing the Queensryche project... Scheduling issues became a conflict, I'm in the middle of many projects both Studio productions and live stuff.... ("Prog Collective 2", "Steve Miller Tribute", "WIlliam Shatner Solo record", starting a "Doors tribute" soon, playing live in a few days with Eddie Jobson in Mexico, also just got interesting offer to play bass with a prog icon for a few gigs in June, I will announce "who" when it gets closer). While I was excited about taking the QR gig, reality is there is not enough time in my schedule at present... and so... I wish them luck on the project !!

When William Shatner is more of a priority than Geoff Tate, it's time for Geoff to retire!

    What the actual fuck.
Those 90 second increments are gone forever. I can never have them back.
I could have spent them shoving pencils in my ears, flossing with barbed wire, snorting lines of dehydrated dog shit, or giving myself a battery acid enema. I want to throw up, but I feel that the mere act of regurgitation would be considered some form of contribution to the project.

New song from Tateryche. Not as bad as I expected. The guitar solo is horrible though IMO.

Opening riff was decent, after that it kinda wallowed. The solo seemed completely out of place.

New mix is by Andy Focx...
Think he was the guitar player from Beautiful Creatures, other than that I'm a bit foggy.

I listened to the new song yesterday and I have to admit its now that bad. I have no idea what the rest of the album sounds like but that song alone sounds better than anything off Dedicated to Chaos. Although I know thats not saying much.
