Dude I saved for a WHILE to buy my Mark V. Then essentially traded it. Takes a while. I don't make a lot of money, but all my extra income goes to tattoos and recording/ music gear. I did buy a guitar from sweetwater with their credit card. Only because it was 18 months zero interest though. If you can get that kind of deal and make sure you pay it off in time, it can be nice.

I know there's a few guys using a power amp with the Kemper. Check a couple of the threads. I know one dude seemed to like to get profiles of just the preamp section when he was using a amp/cab.

No more than about $25,000 per year.

    Rent for my apartment- $600
    car is paid off.
    Student loans and phone/ internet/ insurance - $400
    Gas / food- $300 ish.

This leaves me with around $300 a month disposable income. I'm just really good at not spending money unless it's on tattoos or gear. Sometimes I'll get a little more busy one month and just save the money. If you can save $300 a month, you could get a Kemper used in just about 5 months. They go for around $1500-1600 on ebay.

Just have to budget man. :p

Enough derailment. I'm gonna go play my Lasse rigs.

Makes more than 25k a year, wonders how people can pay for their kempers. Is this a joke?

This. $25k where I live just about the threshold of "livable" and "scraping by."

Still depends on the life situation. I live in San Diego. Not the cheapest city by any means. We have a nice apartment but I'm lucky I split it with my two friends who are engaged. No car payment. No credit card debt. No kids. I used to make 35K a year when I did architecture in Utah and lived for free with my mom, and I had less money than I do now. Good spending habits and no debt are paramount.

True, but that $600/mo for your apartment is insane, especially in SD.

I still say that 25k is insanely low in CA - you're not factoring in federal/state income taxes, sales tax (adds another 10% to just about everything), health insurance, or the fact that you're not building any substantial kind of long-term savings, funds for car accidents or repairs/medical emergencies, and are likely to be a life-long renter when it comes to housing.

    Great pack. Thank you Lasse.

Could someone clarify something for me though? A distortion pedal was used while making most of the profiles, but as I scroll through them, it appears to be off (greyed out) by default. Is this correct?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Yes, the overdrive pedal was used in the signal chain that was profiled, not on the profiler itself.

What I am really digging is Lasse's cab profiles. How are you getting that crisp high end? The 1960v cab with my Krank profile is like gold, I am a really happy camper these days. Thanks again brother.

Tbh, I think the cab and miking is MUCH more important and has a much bigger influence on the tone than the amp.
That's true for the kemper, but just as much in "real life".
I'm a total amp whore myself, but if I'm being honest to myself, I gotta admit that another amp really doesn't make a very big difference, at least not compared to the difference another cab/speaker/mic/room makes.
And that's where most of the stock high gain kpa profiles were lacking IMO....
A lot of people (outside of this forum:)) just don't know how to mic a high gain amp without just getting a muddy mess.

Btw, I've added a killer clean profile to rig exchange, make sure to grab it

    This is totally true.
Thats why I love testing cabs more than amps...

BTW, thanks for the clean profiles Lasse!!! =D

Lasse, did you already profile through a lowpass? I have no idea how you get the himid bump with the right amount of highs for a mix with micing alone...your profiles helped me a bit to get my own micing a bit closer to "mix ready", but I still have no idea how you do it

Awesome profiles, and also they've re-sparked my love for the 1960AV/BV. Totally digging the shotgunblast.
My other favos are the marshalls I think.
