    Practice.

You had to have seen that comin :p
On topic anyways, I can barely play rythyms much less solos. I can play some of the Nothing Else Matters solo though. The way I figure, is to break it down into sections, much like Guitar Hero does
Its weird, but its a good idea I think.

The trick is to activate star power right after Solo A so it goes throughout Solo B which is the hard part, the rest is cakewalk.

what i think is best i just practice random scales and movements for ages and then usually when i try a solo its similar so i find it easy rather than just starting out and being like I HAVE TO MOVE THERE WHY GET OUT OF MY KITCHEN.

I'd advise you to start playing the solo really slowly, and then progressively playing it faster, until you can play it at full speed. It might also be best to learn one bar at a time, and get each down before getting overwhelmed.

Oh, and don't give up because it's too hard, challenge yourself, and put effort in, then you will quickly notice yourself getting a lot better

I have never really sit down and practice stuff because I find it really boring. Generally what i have done is if i can't play something i leave it and i go and find other easier solos to play that i can at least play slowly. Once i have sped those up i go back and try them again and that helps alot.

Sometimes if I really want to learn the solo i get my metronome out and practice it, like the fast bit in Bark at the Moon solo, but that's only ever over a period of one day not speeding it up slowly over a week or so.

I say the opposite. Make sure you're playing it right and that you know the notes, then practice at full speed, just making sure you're going for the right notes.

That's how shawn lane says you should learn to play.

    I trust him.

Solos - good ones - will take a long time and a lot of practice and patience to get down well. I've been trying for four years and I'm still shit.
