Must have been great friendship built upon a solid foundation.
Honestly tenuous at best given our political leanings. I believe in tolerance of one's thoughts. Hit me with your shit, but dont scream bloody murder when I hit you with mine.
ok guys. remember that girl I reached out to after like a decade? it was nice for six months. then we just drifted. so she's history.....again
but get this shit. about a month of just doing whatever The Real Jeff wants to do (which kicked major ass), I get a message through FB from a chick I briefly dated in college....23 fucking years ago. We've been talking off an on via messenger for about a month. She's going through a divorce, and lives in f'n Virginia lol. Her parents live in my hood, though.
She was a little preppyish/gothic/punkish chick back then and liked music outside the mainstream. We've been sharing tunes and she digs stuff I've sent her like Wardruna, 40 Watt Sun, Harvestman, Jesu.....very metal-lite.
She just texted me and said she had a surprise. She fucking bought Dead Can Dance tickets for the show in Oct in DC! WTF? Should I be scared or excited or a bit of both? I dont care, Im going. As long as she kills me after the show it's all good.
I expect Mark Zuckerberg will be maid of honour at the wedding.
totally fine with that if he slips me an envelope full of cash ala Goodfellas
imagine the utter desperation and creepiness of being a guy and doing that shit, digging up a chick from 20+ years ago and randomly messaging her
somehow when it's a chick that does it it's a cute and flattering surprise though
go for it and may you live happily ever after
two years ago I randomly messaged my long-lost best chum from ca. 1995-1998, whom I dug out on LinkedIn on an evening beyond the farthest reaches of boredom. Turned out he was also in Paris so we met up once and it was like cool for 20 minutes reminiscing old times, before the conversation was inevitably steered towards present life, then it was "eh..." on both sides. Awkward shit. We agreed to keep in touch, of course never did.
The past is the past.
we share "friends" on fb but I will be honest....i hadnt thought of her in forever, as we were not "friends" fb. i didnt think much of it, just a really random ancient friend reaching out. you know, social media and all.
she's had a life of travel due to her fathers job. she was in europe for a while...scotland i believe. canada, all over the US, and she's visited others i dont recall. her parents are loaded apparently.
she's mentioned going to a tropical beach with me. she even mentioned going to some nordic spa thing in norway that can only be accessed via dogsled. i was like wtf are you on about? then out of the blue, DCD tickets. Luckily I work for an airline and thus fly for free, so Im like lets do it.
Im scared but strangely aroused.
this is going to end well, i can feel it
EDIT: also lmk if you guys ever end up going to norway or even sweden, i wanna see this with my own eyes
will do. i will tell her we are gonna meet a guy i know from an online metal forum. and that's it's about as weird as reaching out to someone 23 years later and going to an igloo hotel with them.
looks like a bootleg version of the First, Original and True ice hotel in sweden
naw but seriously, it looks cool
The moment a person from 20+ years ago reaches out to you with “hey, how are you?” - you know they’re single.
Or that marriage has just hit rock bottom
@J. that igloo joint looks awesome. Do your best Jon Snow impersonation mate
My forthcoming album will be titled *Beyond the Farthest Reaches of Boredom*
@ Jeff....just go ahead and invite this chick to RC. Get it over with.
Jeff in October
Probably gonna have the best sex o' yo' life, from what I understand. DEATH BY SNU SNU (after Dead Can Dance, in an igloo).
Cheers to that!
I just reached out to an old chum in Staten Island. Idk if its the same long lost buddy. Same uncommon name, same city. Seems like my friends list is shrinking by the year, so need to make some boy scout effort to rekindle and maintain the friendships I do have. Thankfully, all my close chums never miss a beat with me upon reuniting. Never really dull "meh" moments. These are the friendships one must hold dear.
@J. Ye fuck this vunt 20 yrs back? Either way, good for you bro. Turn those beef curtains into pate.
My ex reached out to me a few years after we parted begging for a second chance. This is AFTER I met her at a Holiday Christmas party and cozied up to her post break. Fn skank didnt give me too much play during that drunken stupor THaNKFULLY. If I ended up fettered to the wench, who knows where my spirit would be then and now. She had thoughtfully made me a handmade Valentine's Day gift during our courting. Mustve spent HOURS constructing it, extremely thoughtful sentiment. Had like 365 kindnesses to it, one to open every day of the year. She asked if I had kept it, (as some misery omen to green light a flame reignition.) I being the truthful soul that I am stated that I chucked it in the trash.
