#1 without a doubt is Ronnie James Dio. Then there's a cliff to #2. Here's 9 more great singers in no particular order:

    Roy Khan
    Rob Halford
    Geoff Tate
    Ian Astbury
    Steven Tyler
    Axl Rose
    Robert Plant
    David Byron
    Klaus Meine

I see all these names like Ian Astbury and Steve Perry, I think the question referred to metal singers correct?
Well this is a pretty broad question but I'm narrowing it to actual "heavy metal" singers oppose to death metal guys or rock singers like Joe Lynn Turner.

    10 James Rivera
    9 Steve Grimmett
    8 Kai Hansen
    7 Robert Lowe
    6 Tony Martin
    5 Rob Halford
    4 Midnight
    3 Dio
    2 John Arch
    1 Geoff Tate

    8. Fish

P.S I do realize "The Flute" isn't a great singer but I love everything that comes out of the man's mouth...

Mine would be pretty close to this:

    10. Mats Levin
    9. Paul Di'anno
    8. King Diamond
    7. Tim Owens
    6. Chuck Schuldiner
    5. Jon Oliva
    4. Ronnie James Dio
    3. Warrel Dane
    2. Bruce Dickinson
    1. Rob Halford

This is pretty close to the order. Not based on talent, but based on my preference.

I would also like to list these guys as very honorable mentions:

    Michael Kiske
    Nils K Rue
    Mille Petrozza
    Blitz
    Urban Breed

Curious about Warrel Dane,Brent.Do you like his Nevermore voice or his Sanctuary voice better? I love both myself, but I think I'm partial to Nevermore slightly more.

I completely forgot about Mats Levin! He's amazing! And also Jeff Scott Soto. That man can sing!

There's just not enough room in a top 10 list for all my favorites. :D

I LOVE his Sanctuary voice, but his Nevermore voice is the natural progression of that, shows a hell of a lot more emotion and maturity. So I would have to say Nevermore.

I could easily go another 90 vocalists. To cut it down to just 10 is brutal.

No clue how I forgot him. He'd probably end up being 8 for me, which sadly would push Robert Lowe off the list.

Yeah I don't know why I didn't think of that. Tarja would definitely be on my list. I'm having trouble figuring out where though.

Ah fuck! Don't know how these two got off my list. I totally dig their voices too. They'd probably be 9 and 10 I think on mine now looking at it which (shockingly) would boot Bruce off my list.

Looking at the keyboard and the context of what he said I think he meant to type "think."

Shame on me. I'd actually take David Readman out, and put in Carl Albert!
