To be fair, I’m not a fan to begin with (I was there for Megadeth, who was somehow opening for them), though I do like some of their songs. That said, it was a really flat performance from some old dudes in leather fumbling around on stage trying to pull off “classic rock moves.” The singer was poor, though to be fair he was apparently sick.
No just the Ray Adler albums. Dude is a good singer and looks like Javier Bardem. I like their melodic proggy heavy-ish but pretty and ballad-y style, even though it gets a tiny bit samey after awhile.
BLS/CoC/Eyehategod show tonight. Can't wait to finally see one of my favorite guitar players in his element (saw him on the Experience Hendrix tour not with BLS)
Best internationals I saw, of which I'd only seen Marduk before: - Cosmic Psychos - not metal but probably in my top 3 gigs ever, and I saw them a 2nd time in another city - Kreator/Vader - was mainly there for Vader but didn't mind watching Kreator - Fleshgod Apocalypse - Hobo Magic - Marduk/Gorguts - the venue I'd seen Marduk at in 2015 sounded a lot better, but Gorguts was great Also saw Holy Serpent twice including once as support to Brant Bjork, they were pretty good. I see too many local bands to name all the good ones, but some of my current favourites are Stälker, Exordium Mors, Slumbug, and Deathnir. Most underwhelming of 2017 was Neurosis. Fans were pretty much statues and it was as if the softest, heaviest and most exciting moments were all held back until the last 3 songs (At the End of the Road, Bending Light, The Doorway). Still, even if I'd known in advance that most of the set would lack energy I would've gone and ticked them off the list anyway. I quite often see bands I don't otherwise listen to.
@Onder Do you fancy going to Metalmania Festival this year? We could meet up and hang out together provided that you were interested.
Interesting lineup. I don't know yet, I'd definitely be interested to see Katowice, do some touristy stuff, and get drunk af to Dead Congregation. I can't say right now, I don't have a job atm so it's hard to predict what happens in May.
It's 7th of April to be clear. It'd be a really nice experience if I got to meet you. From my perspective Katowice is nothing interesting, unlike Wrocław or Kraków. And yeah, Dead Congregation is one of the main reasons I'm going to attend.
Beyond stoked for this. Probably going to both the Richmond and Baltimore show if even anyone wants a beer.
