Any good recommendations? I enjoy stuff along the lines of Ulcerate, Gorguts, Demilich, Theory in Practice, etc.

I don't like Nile or Necrophagist and I am also not much of a fan of bands with black metal vocals or blackened DM.

    Thanks in advance!

Hey man, do you already listen to Liers In Wait or Crimson Massacre?

Hey Lat, nope haven't heard them yet. Thanks for pointing them out. I see Liers only have one EP, would The Luster be the best place to start with Crimson?

Yes, start with the Liers In Wait EP, then try that particular Crimson Massacre album.

Putting this here too, was recommended Timeghoul somewhere else:

Got my interest, need to check out the rest of the songs.

You probably know them, but Atrocity's Todessehnsucht is a gem of dark and progressive death metal and a big influence on Erosion-era Gorguts.

Embrionic Death's Stream of Solidarity is one of the greatest weird-tech-death releases imo.

Early Nomicon was also pretty out-there, especially for 1991, although they're a bit more on the angular hardcore side of things in case that's a problem. Rectum was another Finnish band that played similar stuff around the same time.

Algophobia is a pretty recent discovery for me, but they sound promising as well. Some melodeath and tech-hardcore influences seem to creep in there, but it comes together pretty well. Vocals might be a bit too raspy/blackened for you though.

Thanks for the recommendations HamburgerBoy :)

Hadn't heard of that Atrocity album but that song got me interested. I'm quite liking the Embrionic Death track, will definitely check out the rest of that album.

The Nomicon video doesn't seems to be working and I couldn't find any of the other tracks of that album on YouTube. But yeah, -core and I don't really get along :p

The vocals in Algophobia definitely lean towards the blackened side, have to agree with a reviewer over at MA that it sounds similar to Atheist's Unquestionable Presence, seems to have been inspired by it. But I will have to listen to some more songs from them to make a better assessment.

    Thanks again for the tunes.

Well if you like Demilich, you can't go wrong with Adramelech.

    A personal favorite of mine.

Thanks for the recommendation ClichéUserName :) Heard the first two songs and it is really nice! It is in the old school death vein tho (which I love). Will keep listening to the album, good stuff.

Also, recently heard to a couple of songs from Gorod's Neurotripsicks but it didn't do it for me. Have liked what I have heard of Gory Blister tho.

^ Sounds interesting, will check out some more tunes from them, thanks.

Really liking these two bands that I was recommended elsewhere: Vortex and Anata.

Yeah not in the Technical DM vein, has it's moments but overall didn't do it for me. Also didn't like the blackened vocals they use sometimes alongside the gutturals.

Thanks for the recommendation tho! :)

Liking these two other bands as well: Cognitive and Zealotry

Thanks for the recommendation droom23 :)

Sorry but Beyond Creation didn't really do it for me. It sounded very wanky with every member just showing off how technical they can be and with not much care for songwriting being shown. The last minute of that song highlights this problem and just goes on forever.
