I just ordered the new CD from lasercd and wanted to ask the band and others who have heard it why they went with the "loudness war" on the mastering of the album. I just checked and almost all of the sounds are mastered way too loud and are tiring on the ears. They are uniformly clipped which leaves me a little disappointed.

    Any thoughts on this issue?

hmmm. Don't know what to tell you. Honestly we never intended to compete in any "loudness war" but it also wouldn't be wise for us to have our album not sound comparable to other recent albums in our genre. We compared the masters to MANY other recent albums metal AND non metal, and it certainly wasn't the most aggressive or loud.

Also, this is the first time we've ever heard anyone with this complaint of the sound...so I don't know...maybe your ears are extra keen ;)

Hope it doesn't prevent you from enjoying the songs.

    Cheers.

The CD sounds great! I cannot find where any "loudness" effect is apparent.
