I have a sudden craving for some melodic black metal that I've never heard before. My references for what I would consider melodic black metal would be bands like: Dissection Dawn Sacramentum Dark Fortress Unanimated Lord Belial Mgla Taake Drudkh
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/band-recommendations-forum/323491-melodic-black-metal.html Look through that thread. But I'll recommend: Artefact Ancient Rites Arcturus Black Lotus In Lingua Mortua Windir
Thanks, I did a search but couldn't find that thread. I already know of Artefact, Ancient Rites, Arcturus and Windir and like them all so I'll check the other bands out.
All familiar to me, and I like them. Already own the full discographies of Borknagar and In The Woods.
Mystic Forest Sad Legend Vinterland Astriaal Melancolia Sorcier Des Glaces The Elysian Fields Definitively check out the first three out, but if you got time check out all of them.
Thyestean Feast. Kinda Windirish with decent production and I doubt many/anyone has heard them. Hadn't heard these guys before, they sound pretty good (what I just heard reminded me kinda of the new Stormblast - fo, I like it), thanks. Hopefully the majority of the songs are a bit less cheesey than what I'm listening to right now but meh, be alrate for drinking.
Summoning is melodic in the base sense that all black metal is melodic, but it doesn't seem to fit with the kind of bands people are mentioning here, mostly.
