Do you consider yourself more of a misanthrope than a philanthrope or is it the other way around?

if I was weathy...I would be a philanthropist. I've been down way to long to fail to identify with people who need help.

is there no inbetween? i'm much more into philanthropy as i age, but still have a distaste for certain large groupings of people. usually misanthropes though, so maybe i am a philanthropist.

Pretty much what DE said, although I often give money to homeless people when I have any, but I guess that doesn't count because I only do it to get an "I'm such a good person" boner.

I'll have to go with misanthrope. I hate everyone until they can prove to me they are deserving of neutrality, and then have to EARN something positive. I'd give money to charity, but i have enough problems of my own and what little extra I have goes to my friends.

Misanthropy, because I'm usually fucking broke, but if I had enough money to significantly contribute to positive causes, I would.

Am I wrong or are people taking the term 'misanthropy' a whole lot too lightly? I interpret it as total hatred, possibly disgust, towards mankind, enough so not to want to for example click around on the internet trying to make friends... Sure I hate lots of people and groups of people, but I think that calling myself a misanthrope would be stretching the term too much. Or I just define it wrong.

Yeah, fotmbm, I think you're spot on there. Doomcifer and J aren't even close to being misanthropes, hell, they've both got friends and even girlfriends/wives. Misanthropes don't socialize with vermin such as lowly human beings.
