Not final version, but...
sinquestsound, it's the best mix of this topic! Cheers!
thx man, I appreciate it!
Guitars: Reamped by me: Bugera 333XL>Hesu 2x12 V30 cab>sm57
Still need some help to mix it better. Any remarks?
My ears are completely shot right now, but I've working on it these past few days, and here's where I'm at now:
I need to finish working on the vocals and then go to town on it, but this seems as solid of a starting point as any.
What is this?
Outboard analog mixing/In the box software mixing
Some very nice mixes here, guys. Its going to be a tough job judging this. A couple of points:
1. Some mixes don't have a guitar layer lined up. If this was just practice, it's fine, but those who've taken the time to line up the stems will obviously get rated higher.
2. It would be great to see someone try something different with the mix. Use your creativity - anything to make us think "wow, this one stands apart from the rest.."
Other than that..excellent responses, thanks. Just over 2 weeks to go, so keep em coming!
Could I make the suggestion to re upload the leads with the proper timing. I just opened the session, and it's not as simple as slipping them a bar or 1.4th note. some of them seem to be off by weird non musical values. Might just save other people from having to deal with it.
Either that or layout exactly how much each lead needs to be slipped
Yeah, I checked out the tracks but some of the gtrs are totally placed wrong from your guys' end and it turned me off. Went from "ooh exciting, good tracks" to "meh... not really too fussed" instantly.
Could someone also explain the vocal labeling/what exactly all this stuff is? Seems to be doubles of most lines, but it's also all over the place.
posted this on the Facebook page, but figured I'd post here as well
As soon as I realised those tracks were not aligned I had to give up.. It's so frustrating to fix something that should be done already. Nice track btw
Guys, this is my entry for competitions
I would glad to hear some feedbacks, or ask me anything! I would love to share and learn from this forum.
I'm happy to upload the Edits I did for everyone to use.
I ended up having to re edit the whole song as I don't believe for a second that anyone did this in the first place.
I didn't edit all of the audio files as I wasn't expecting to upload so a few files are missing for example Mic'd Toms and Kicks, just have the triggered ones and most of the quartet mics I trashed, but this was simple enough that anyone could do. Also as you can hear in my mix, I didn't touch the vocals, so these are not edited.
Is anyone keen for this?
If I remember correctly, the original files had a couple of guitar layers that needed to be started from bar 2 instead of 1 to line up correctly - it doesn't require any major editing. The rest of the 60+ tracks are fine.
The DI's were added a couple of days later to address that issue - all tracks start at 1. Has anyone checked out the DI's? I have seen mixes that have the correct timing, so clearly some of you have used the DI's to re-amp. Check them out and let us know.
Almost done it. Used original guitar re-amps, but MAYBE I'll do my re-amp later.
I'll check mix later to see what need to tweak, but I'm really happy how it sound right now.
