Just launched Audacity, cut the shitty remix part and renamed the hidden track "0 - Intro", I don't care
My rankings (for a COB song, if I were doing this as a general metal song scores would be way higher): 1) Hexed - 9.5/10 2) Kick in the Spleen - 8.5/10 3) Soon Departed 8.5/10 4) Hecate's Nightmare - 7.5/10 5) Relapse - 7.5/10 6) Say Never Look Back - 7/10 7) This Road - 7/10 8) Glass Houses - 6.5/10 9) Platitudes and Barren Words - 5.5/10 10) Under Grass and Clover - 5/10 11) Knuckleduster I don't count since I've been loving that song since it came out so long ago.
I know everyone is pumped listening to the new album already, so don’t mind me answering now, just for the record we usually receive files via email, depends on the label. For example, Spinefarm did use to send links that expire after some time, so you have to listen online. I guess radio stations or print magazines receive physical copies too. I am a huge collector of COB stuff and over the years I have bought physical promo copies, most recent one being “Scream For Silence”, so I always thought that these were the ones being sent to bigger media. Cancer. On a happier tone, I have come to the conclusion that “Hexed” and “Kick in the Spleen” are my favourite tracks. I am so pleased with the album. I too prefer the old Knuckleduster better, but -I don’t know if you guys knew- this remix is done by American industrial duo Youth Code, which is getting pretty big and you can see Henkka sporting their merch in recent band photos. I know they’re friends with Janne too. Anyways, just some extra info for you
This is a very rough ranking based on about 5 listens. Bound to change over time. 1. Glass Houses 2. Kick in the Spleen 3. Hexed 4. Say Never Look Back 5. Relapse 6. Soon Departed 7. This Road 8. Hecate's Nightmare 9. Under Grass and Clover 10. Platitudes and Barren Words The new Knuckleduster would probably be 2 or 3 but I've loved the song (like Norbix) for so long that I don't think it's fair to place it right now. The most ironic thing here is I was looking forward to Platitudes the most and Glass Houses one of the least and they are completely flipped!

That's what I thought... Shit. What kind of cancer? A friend of mine died last year because of pancreas cancer - 11 days after he got the diagnosis. Back to the album... I listened to it again - great album. But it lacks again good solos. I don't know what happend to Alexi but why isn't he able to write good solos anymore? The last good solo (and propably one of the best he ever did) was the solo in Ugly but since RRF there's not a single one which I like.
Listening now. Just finished Kick in the spleen. I am speechless. Will come back later when I fight the right words. This might very well be my favorite album EVER.
Fantastic album. Really suprising that they went with those 3 singles as I feel those are some of the weaker songs. Might be my favorite COB album overall. Another note- PLAY THESE LIVE. I hope they don’t settle for just the singles.
I had a great idea to put the old and new Knuckledusters together but I found out that the new one is exactly 1 bpm faster than the old version so they don't really sync up lol. Damn.
Okay, you guys make me excited for the record again. I literally don't have any time to even listen to the album until Saturday so I'll check it on Spotify then. But those claims about how good some of the songs are sure are interesting. Especially when you look at some of the names of the people saying this.
Soon Departed's chorus is the best thing they've released in, like, ever All songs were pretty good (I skipped the singles though). Original Knuckleduster was better than the new one. Holy shit, what the hell happened to the Knuckleduster Remix As a whole I'd say this is the best album since HCDR, with the possible exception of HOB. Should probably also give AYDY a listen to better compare stuff.
Correction for Hexed. It's a 10/10 and thereby to go head to head with ETID, NMF, Widdershins and SNBN
What the fuck is the Remix???!! This is so fucking random that I actually like it XD weirdest this ever.
When I first heard the remix I was like WTF? I thought it was just going to be a different arrangement, not a whole new genre entirely lol
I would've liked Hexed more if the intro/verse riff didn't sound exactly like every Dark Tranquility song ever.
And my favorite neo-classical bit of the album is actually not the riff in Hexed but the starting lick of the solo in Kick in The Spleen. That fucking rocks.
