    Damn that Haake! Even the first beat is totally insane! the hands are 4/4 @ 117bpm, but the legs are faster (I tapped 156bpm, but might be off) with beat like this:
    xxx-x-xx-x-x--xxx--x-xxx-x--x-x-x--x-
    I had to slow it down 75% in an audio editor to figure it out, so the spaces are not equal to with it really is, but think it basically as a straight 16/16 beat with only one leg (sick!), but you add 3 extra hits with doublekicks and remove 4 hits with breaks, so that makes it 15/16 ?
    :OMG:

    Wonder what numbers he uses for metronome live? :heh:

    edit: retapped, got 115 for the hands and 154 for legs

    Yeah, although most Meshuggah stuff sounds like its crazy time signatures, its mostly 4/4. Whats weird and unique about Meshuggah is they'll do crazy polyrhythms (one drum part with multiple time signatures going on at once), and have the cymbals doing typical 4/4 patterns. I guess its not that unique anymore, but when they first started out, NO ONE was doing that. Thats why its so complex but you can still headbang to it.

    The point is they're unique! the rest of the world is just copying them!
    Polyrhythms = Meshuggah period
    Whenever I listen to a lot of young bands I say "goddamn there's Meshuggah why doing a copycat of that band?"

    Yes, I totally agree. They don't care about trends, what combination of amps-cabs-speakers-mics they use, as long as they're happy with it. They truly don't care. That's also how they can be totally unique and at least five years ahead of the rest of the world, that has to analyze, learn, and copy.

    But this album could be their "easiest" album since DEI. I'm not sure though, I haven't heard the finished result yet.

    Actually it doesen't sound like POD at all to me, but rather the old TCPreamp-DualRec-MarshallGT75-TLM193-TC1140 chain....

    could be wrong, though...or maybe they went all ENGL or something....that would suprise me....

    ATTENION ALL DFH USERS:

    This is how to properly compress this snare. Whether it is actually the dfh snare or not, just take a page from this book. Oh and Please stop programming messhugah ripoff tunes with a snare that sounds like popcorn. And stop thinking so hard about your POD. ITS ALWAYS GOING TO SOUND LIKE A POD.

    That being said, this sounds much better on my laptop speakers. Love these guys. Cant wait for the real thing.
