I enjoy it. My Body, A Funeral is one of their best songs in a long fucking time.
I think it's pretty dece. Of course, I tend to like the stuff that people class as utter shite and think of the classic MDB as relatively useless.
Is it out yet? I want it now!!!
The promo is kicking around but I think the official release is a bit off. If I make it to a practice prior to, I'll bring the bitch by for you.
Sweet man! When are you headed up?
I have no clue. Think you guys are Thursdays and Mondays, right? If a holiday falls on one of those or I actually use some vacation time, then,.
The official release is in 6 days.
Bring me victory!
Next Tuesday, Dan... new Mastodon comes out too, I think.
Sweet, I am so there. I got one song tonight in metal Maniacs, and it sounded cool to me, I am excited!
OK, the CD isn't out for another 3 weeks, but it's available for download now(Amazon).
I've been listening to it nonstop since Saturday, and some of it I just fucking hate. It sounds like Aaron has reduced his lyric-writing to a sad rhyming game. Yes, I know that writing lyrics is hard, but there's so much rhyming that I'm becoming obsessed with it.
Compare Two Winters Only (from Angel/Dark River album)
What is it you hope for, even though you are dying?
And even though life is closing your tiny eyes
Why did I leave them all?
I should be with them to die in the same place
The pain I think, should go on forever. For always
But no. Not mine. Not now. My life now begins
with Deeper Down (Deathless Kings album)
The unforgiving wind
And lashes me like a whip
The self-pity overwhelms me
My heart sinks like a ship
The beginning of The Lies I Sire just seems empty. A lot of the album feels empty.
There ARE some things that I did like. It sounds like Katie the keyboard chick has learned to play violin, and wanted to show that off on this album. The violin riffs aren't very complicated, but that's ok. It's cool to hear violin in MDB songs again. There are also a few songs with Aaron singing with a chick. It sounds great. The female vocals aren't operatic or over the top or even particularly high-pitched. But that dynamic is really nice to hear.
Bring Me Victory is a great song, and I find myself humming it and wanting to hear it again.
A Chapter in Loathing starts with the riff that ended The Blood, The Wine, The Roses.
I'm listening to it as I write this, and every time makes a lame rhyme, I want to take a point away, but if I did that, the album would score -642 on a scale from 1 to 100.
I thought they lost Katie and brought back the chick who used to do violin? Mind you I learned that there's some guy called Aaron in the band from Darryl just now so... METALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.
the GUY that used to do violin/keys for them is Martin Powell. They got rid of the chick that did keyboards for them and got a chick that plays keys and violin.
Dude My Dying Bride is all about feelings and shit so they're ALL chicks to us Death Metal folks!
Pushed to April 21st
'The chick' (sarah) left because she had a baby. Katie took over the role with the added extra of playing the violin i believe.
Make sure you get the special guitar edition!
Guitar edition? Explain please.
With the guitar special edition, you get an extra bit to the digi pack. Theres an extra booklet with the guitar tabs to some of the songs in, and a little paragrath slagging off guitar hero and a pick with the MDB logo on.
