I know I'm not the only one here who thinks Nortt's blackened funeral doom metal is amazing. So where are the Nortt fans?
Well I guess I'm not a fan yet. I've listened to Gudsforladt two or three times and it seems very promising, just haven't delved deep enough into it yet...
the guitars are very weak and boring, and tone is awful, drums even shitter, vocals are decent, overall shit, sorry, i'll stick with shape of dispair.
shape of despair is great, but i dont think they capture the over all feel of the funeral doom genre. nortt does a better job of it, even though he takes a black metal approach, but to each is there own.
Shape of Despair is far superior to Nortt. Nortt seems to be going from an angle where the music's darkness comes before (or at very least equal to) the aura of depression. He pulls both aspects off well, and theres a good final product there because of it. However Shape of Despair focus far more on an aura of depression. The darkness is more of a bi-product of the incomprable sorrow. Shape of Despair also have a far more "full" sound then Nortt, or most funeral doom for that matter causing the aura of depression to fully suround the listener. In my opinion Shape of Despair achieve the goals of funeral doom better then any other band...
Also, Shape of Despair rules, but is pussy shit compared to Nortt. Nortt is rock fucking bottom despair, visciously clawing at that last strand of hope.
Shape of Despair kicks my ass (see sig) The new one comes out in September I want to check out Nortt, but there's no way I'm paying $40 for a fucking cd.
Eh just download it, you'd have to be insane (or, well just in a better financial situation then I) to buy it.
