Awesome guys, enjoy! They were great when they played at *shudder* The Arena back in, what, 2006? :D

My dream was always to play The Arena in Brisbane. As much of a hole that it was, it was such an important venue for me. Such a pity it's not around anymore.

I think it was 2008. I was studying German when I saw them, and had my first unit that year.

I really enjoyed playing The Arena. We did Megadeth and Nightwish there and it was a good vibe on stage both times. Shame it's gone!

How was QBH in Melbourne to play at? You supported Megadeth there in 2005 I think it was. That's the only gig I ever saw there (it was mainly a nightclub), but I thought it was a fantastic venue.

That was a nightmare, actually. The stage was OK but all of the steel and aluminium everywhere caused major issues with everyone's gear. Lots of stress by the crew and a lot of hasty workarounds.

Decent show though, although probably the weakest out of the 3 Australian shows for us.

Oh right, I had no idea about that! Maybe that's why it didn't have many bands playing there. I just loved the viewing angles, with a balcony and a wide stage giving great spots to see the band.

How was it? Did you have much interaction with Helloween?

A little bit, but the night was running late and there were a few tech dramas for all of the bands (Helloween lost an amp for a couple of songs, which kind of sucked a bit for them). But despite that, it was a pretty great night. Packed room, great crowd... can't really complain! :)

Brisbane was a pretty solid crowd by the end of the night - late (scheduled) start which was weird. First support didn't come on until 9, and Helloween didn't take the stage until 10.45. Again - not running late, that was their scheduled time.

Supports (The Stranger and Dark Symphonica) were okay. The Stranger were prog-like which is not really my thing. DS are more of your typical 'female fronted metal band'. Good - singer has amazing pipes, but she lacks stage presence.

Helloween were good - bookended the set with the classics, then 'deris era' stuff between. Even during the 'lesser' tracks they were still entertaining as hell due to the stage antics of the band. Can definitely tell they are a band that have been plying their craft for a long time, and still enjoy it!!
