Symphony X and World Management are happy to announce that the band have been invited to join the “Gigantour” this summer. The band are excited and eager to get out on the road in continued support of their album The Odyssey. Gigantour is a six-week festival trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER. Other main-stage acts include FEAR FACTORY, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and NEVERMORE. Also scheduled to appear on the second stage are DRY KILL LOGIC with more acts to be announced.

Michael Romeo had this to add:

"Originally, our plans for the summer were to finish writing, and get into the studio to finish the new cd. After we rethought everything, we came to the conclusion that Gigatour was too cool of a thing to pass up.

We want to give a big thanks to Dave Mustaine for giving us the opportunity, and a big thumbs up to Mike Portnoy for putting in a good word for us. Thanks guys; see you on the road!"

Feel free to participate over in the Gigantour forums (please represent SymX in a responsible and respectable adult manner there): http://forums.gigantour.com/

Note from Jax: please keep all Gigantour discussions in this thread to keep the forum from being cluttered by multiple threads on the same topic. Thanks!

This is the worst news I've heard in weeks. :erk: For obvious reasons, I can't go to the Gigantour and I'll have to wait even longer for the new album... :yuk:

I am going to destroy Britain and re-assemble the pieces in America.

Just so I can get tours like this. I hate Britain right now!

mmmm..."continued support of their album The Odyssey."

Even though I like Odyssey a lot, I hope they don't play it. With that in mind, this is what I hope they play (with the time they have):

    1)Accolade
    2)Accolade II
    3)Whispers
    4)Egypt

I think this would be a good choice to draw more fans as well.

So far it has been announced that the second stage acts will each be 20 minutes long.

The second stage headliner(s) will be 30 minutes I believe.

Who knows, this could change though. This is just what Mustaine said as a possiblity.

40 minutes is better than I was expecting...that's good enough for me! I was expecting 20-30...Nice! They didn't play much longer than that when I saw them open for Blind Guardian, so I know what to expect...

Awesome opportunity for Symphony X and awesome concert for all of the fans...YES!
