Well, it's finally that time of year again!

Please post your TOP 10 albums of 2009. When voting finishes, I will tally up all the votes and post up an official top 10 of 2009 as voted by the NeO forum!

Please ensure all your top 10 are numbered clearly from 1-10.

    The band you vote #1 will get 10 votes, #2= 9 votes, #3=8 votes.....#10= 1 vote.

    1) Absu - Absu
    2) Altar of Plagues - White Tomb
    3) Shrinebuilder - Shrinebuilder
    4) Ahab - The Divinity of Oceans
    5) Devin Townsend Project - Ki/Addicted (Might as well throw 'em into one)
    6) Fen - The Malediction Fields
    7) Asphyx - Death... The Brutal Way
    8) Suffocation - Blood Oath
    9) The Chasm - Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm
    10) Wolves in the Throne Room - Black Cascade

    Very notable mentions:
    Destroyer 666 - Defiance
Blut aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue with the Stars
    Ensiferum - From Afar
    Cormorant - Metazoa
    Myrkr - Black Illumination
    Hyadningar - The Weak Creation
    Pensees Nocturne - Vacuum
    Wodensthrone - Loss
Katatonia - Night is the New Day
Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us
The Great Collapse - s/t (A friend's band whose release I would have put in the top 5 had it not been for my recent surge in listening to what 2009 had to offer. Still a great release.)
Behemoth - Evangelion & Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest (both boring releases from bands who have long passed their peaks, but there were some cool things on the albums. At the least, you can't deny that they keep pushing the boundaries of speed. That was part of the problem really. Too much focus on speed and too little on actual songwriting).

    "What the fuck was that?"
    Pestilence - Resurrection Macabre
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
    Obituary - Darkest Day
    Megadeth - Endgame

    5. Tyr - By the Light of the Northern Star
    6. Amorphis - Skyforger
    7. Old Man's Child - Slaves of the World
    8. My Dying Bride - For Lies I Sire

Honourable mentions to the following for being great albums:

This subject to change, but this is what I have so far...
    1) The Project Hate MCMXCIX - The Lustrate Process
    2) Ram-Zet - Neutralized
    3) Augury - Fragmentary Evidence
    4) Cormorant - Metazoa
    5) Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation of the Black Widow: Unlike what a lot of people have said, I like this one more than Hell is Empty...
    6) Swallow the Sun - New Moon
    7) Be'lakor - Stone's Reach
    8) God Dethroned - Passiondale
    9) Devin Townsend Project - Addicted
    10) Katatonia - Night is the New Day

    Runner-Ups
Behemoth - Evangelion: Major grower for me, they topped Demigod imo.
Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest
    Immortal - All Shall Fall
    Devin Townsend Project - Ki
Between the Buried and Me - The Great Misdirect
Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity
Old Man's Child - Slaves to the World

    Mixed Opinions...
Skyfire - Esoteric: I cannot sit through this album in one sitting...might be because of being busy or something...not really sure
Ex Deo - Romulus: It's not a BAD album, I actually like it more than Kataklysm's material, I just am not as wowed as I guess I wish I could be...they're awesome live though...
Ensiferum - From Afar: SO MUCH BETTER than Victory songs. I just think Petri's vocals do nothing for me...

To be honest, while this year was great, I didn't have as much time to listen to new material as I would have liked...what with the computer crashing and some other crap happening.

    Finally...for fun...
Albums I'm excited about for next year... :)
    Ne Obliviscaris's full length (duh!)
The Faceless's 3rd album - After letting Planetary Duality grow on me quite a bit this year, I have to say I really look forward to hearing where these guys go next.
    Agalloch
Dark Tranquillity - We Are the Void
    Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy
    Virgin Black
Enslaved - Probably not until 2011, but I have heard they have enough material for another album at the end of the last recording session
Wintersun - Time: AHAHAHAHAHAHA...this is just funny at this point...
    Borknagar
    Vintersorg
    Daylight Dies
    Arcturus ...maybe?!
Gorguts/Negativa: I have to wonder what is going on with Negativa since Luc is out.
    Quo Vadis
    Anathema
    Unexpect: Their mixing process
Akphaezya: Started getting into these guys so much, AWESOME, AWESOME band...
A Window to the Sun's demo: ...not really...not until 2011 at the rate we're writing and with my perfectionism... <_<

    Awesome!
I was at their show a couple of years ago but started feeling unwell during the supports, and in the few minutes before Arcturus came on I had to leave my front-row-centre-position and flee the building to violently throw up from food poisoning. And then pay for a taxi home since I didn't think I could handle a train trip without further hurling. And then shortly after I hear that they've accomplished all they wanted to accomplish and were disbanding. Gar.

I think we'll just take the order they're in from 1 top to 10 at the bottom which is hopefully the order most people meant anyways. :)
