Just upgraded to Lion a couple of weeks ago and had to apply as an Avid beta tester to get working drivers for my 2626, so nah

At first when I read it's merging with the ipad and all, I was afraid, but if it's about having centralized apps like Notes or iMessages, I like where it's going. I really like to think my iphone like the extension of my laptop, synchronized etc.

@Jarkko : driver problems ? It was already a pain when W7 came out to have my profire 2626 working because they literally took a year to have some working properly for the new OS. I'm surprised you have problems though, the latest drivers worked totally fine for me when I switched to mac (and it was a week before snow leopard so I jumped on it immediately). Last week I had the opportunity to plug it again to record a few tracks, was still working fine besides months and months of updates.

not too excited about this to be honest - i skimmed through the main new features, and saw nothing i need.

hopefully the release of the new operating system will eventually mark Lion as a reasonable upgrade for audio work though.

on a side note - don't you just hate always having to upgrade to the operating system one step behind? still, rather that than all the fucked-up problems trying to cope with an all new version.

Lion killed my MBP performance. My Hack still has 10.6.7 and I am sticking to Snow Leo for a loooooong time.

Cloned my drive for safety reasons then installed the DP of 10.8, absolutely no problems with cubase 6, wavelab 7, or pro-tools 10 with any plugins thus far.

@audiogeekzine : didn't have a single problem either, I think i'll just switch right away after a last time machine save, last time was flawless. Do you often experience PT problems at every new version guys or are you talking generally speaking ?

EDIT : read the comments in the warning "do not install it will kill your PT" link... don't get the haters, some guys do the test to warn people and they get "it's pointless no pro would migrate with a beta" as a reward.

Lion is better than Snow Leopard in some ways:
Finder finally has a merge function.
Finally you can resize windows from any edge.
Those two things alone are worth upgrading for. IMO
Plus, Mission Control is really cool, better than spaces if you've used that.

    worse in others:
Finder sidebar is monochromatic, hard to see important things.
Devices are at the bottom of the list instead of top.
User Library is hidden. (Hold option in the Go menu to get there)

As for Mountain Lion, I didn't see anything interesting in the features list.
