Elements is the consumer version of Photoshop. Its ok for minor touch ups, but it doesn't allow exporting of CMYK files, as it needs a third party plug in. It also includes a simplified color management scheme and simplified versions of the more powerful plug-ins found in the CS and numbered versions. As Tim pointed out though, its a great introduction to Adobe's line of photo editing and manipulation programs.

CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) is very important when printing hi-res images. Its essentially the purest form of an image which has been calibrated to be printed on a professional printer. Photoshop is usually set to a RGB colour scheme (red, green and blue). RGB is mainly used for web based viewing only.

There is also Adobe Photoshop Express, which is a free web based editor for blogs and social networking.

I'm currently using Photoshop CS2. I have no need for 3D rendering and most of the updates I need are already on the latest firmware update. If you wanted too you could just use versions prior to CS1. There all essentially the same anyway.

Just remember, if you are at uni or a general student. You can save around 80% on the RRP of Photoshop products. Most bricks and mortar stores in Australia don't allow the discount, but if you go online to Adobe its still eligible. I only paid $150 for Adobe Lightroom 3 last year. The upgrade to Lightroom 4 is only like $80.

Facebook buys out Instagram for a mere $1 Billion. Kevin Systrom must be masturbating uncontrollably right now atop his piles of cash.

I wonder what this will do to the integrity of Instagram? If history has taught us anything, its that Facebook doesn't always keep a straight face when telling the public they wont change anything about a certain application.

Haha! Some cunts have all the luck.

Supposedly he only got $200 million out of the deal with the rest going to share holders and paying the remaining staff within the company.

When they say "Future 4K Upgrade". Is that firmware? Its a nice camcorder. 960fps would be nice for some slow motion punches to the face...a-la Vulgar Display of Power.

The super 35mm lens would be amazing to use. I assume that would cost an additional fee or are you getting a bundle?

It's looking like $10000 for the camera and another $700 for the external recorder so we can do 4:2:2 uncompressed data. Looks like the sensor is capable of 4K but it initially only does 1080p. But hey, 1080p at 4:2:2 that can do 960fps? That's pretty fucking great as it is, and then you'll get 4K down the track via a firmware patch. Definitely worth the investment. :)

I got bored this evening and went for a 2 hour walk. These were the result of my walk. I think I need a stronger torch.

Cheers Mick. I'm hoping to get out and do more when I get my new tripod next week. Fun times ahead.

I took these last night at the Espy for Elm Street's final gig in Australia (for now). They're heading to Europe to live and tour. I wish them the best of luck. They're seriously an amazing band. Check them out if you haven't already. http://www.metalelmstreet.com/

The venue had some decent lighting to work with, along with a lighting guy who knew what he was doing.
