Have you ever checked out any Mezarkabul? They sound exactly like the band you're looking for. All clean vocals. Very dark stuff. They use Middle Eastern musical elements in their music and totally have their own vibe. Their album Unspoken was released in Jan 2002 in the USA and in 2001 all over Europe. They're also going to play Wacken Open this summer.

Just go to www.amazon.com and read reviews for the band.

Evergrey is a great band too. www.evergrey.net

Nevermore is killer! Check out Dreaming Neon Black

Some Sentenced may be up your alley but I'm not too sure about that.

Nightingale (Dan Swano's projec). Check out I.

Damn! I was gonna recommend that...

Another fine show from them at Karmarock last saturday. They are definitely in the top 5 live-artist of Finland!

Novembers Doom. Funeral (extreme doom, but such beautiful melodies). Solstice maybe. Paradigma.

"Futile" is one of the best Finnish metal discs ever IMHO.
