Hey everyone, I'm living in Cairns now, still no proper internet. Now facing the biggest storm Queensland has ever seen. My one request is, if I die tomorrow, can LORD do a song about Yasi?

Big move! Hope it all goes well for you up there. Big storms are fun, as long as you're not on a bike at the time and they don't turn into floods.

Spare a thought for AdamS too- our American brothers are suffering one of the largest and most widespread cold weather systems in recent times. Several states (Including Illinois) are under a state of emergency with snow depths expected to be 1.8-2.4m. Following that there will be a supercold blast of air from the Arctic. 100 million people will be strongly affected by this weather system. Emergency Services are advising people if they become stranded they should be prepared to spend quite some time trapped in their cars and should therefore pack appropriately.

So it's now Cat. 5 and looking like the worst storm since 1918. My brother has evacuated his place in Innisfail, which is smart - he was thinking of staying too. Hope my nieces in Cairns are gonna be OK too. A tad concerned here...!

It sounds very bad indeed. Hard to believe it's coming so soon after the worst of the floods.

I survived, so no need to find something that rhymes with Yasi. My parents in Innisfail came through ok too, but Mission Beach and Tully are flattened, poorbastards. Still, if it had hit Cairns head on like it looked like, it would have been even worse.

Well, my nieces and brother are OK. My nieces only had minor damage to their fences, but my brother is going back to his farm at Tully and he's expecting to find his plantation completely flattened. :( But at least he's OK and his house is still standing - that's something!

Random question, but is there a character in the Winnie the Pooh books which likes eating aloe vera or a plant like that?

Hey guys, I've posted a shitload of photos and videos from 70,000 Tons of Metal on my Facebook.

If you want to check them out, just send me a friend request (just search for "Dallas Handcock" - I'll be the only one)

Here is also a good little interview giving a brief outline of the epicness of it:

The sound on my tv has all of a sudden gone all shit. It's kinda fuzzy like when you hear some wanker with doof doof music up loud who doesn't realise you can just hear the vibration outside of the car. Any ideas why it might have happened and what I can do about it? The tv has not been knocked or anything. I know that's a pretty vague description...

Nobody spilled a drink on the speakers?

Try switching it on and off again, my old CRT hooked up to Set Top Box sometimes has no sound and this cures it.

If it's a DTV go through the options and check/adjust all the volume settings.
