It's always the way, particularly if the novelty track is in recent memory, the voters don't have long attention spans and usually vote for whatever's current.

I recall Pretty Fly for a White Guy made 2MMM's greatest song of all time poll, no surprise it was high in the charts at the time.

    :(

I recognise Mumford & Sons because my sister dragged me to their concert a few months ago. I thought I would level the playing field and took her to Steel Panther gig when they were here :)

Is there a site which lets you keep a nice record of all the films you've seen? Like goodreads.com does for books... I've tried on IMDB, but unfortunately and surprisingly, it doesn't seem to cut it.

I've finally been accepted into the Post-grad Masters course (communication/media theory & English Lit) at the University of Tasmania (Hobart campus) and will be moving back there (was born in Hobart) in a month's or so time.
Huge step for me, because have been in Canberra for about 27 years now.
The plan is to do the two years of the Masters and then move back to the mainland for my PhD is I am able.
If am unable, will still move back if I can. Most likely Sydney or Melbourne for a change or pace and lifestyles. and to see some international bands for once.

I am now the proud owner of an ESP Horizon FRII-D.

It's a purple/blue quilt top with neck through. It feels absolutely amazing to play and has a high output sound second to none thanks to the Seymour Duncans - JB bridge and ‘59 neck. I actually went in to the shop to buy a prestige ibanez but they all felt or sounded... wrong for various reasons. The 2550 just didn't have the tone I wanted, the 1570 had the tone but the neck didn't feel good. I really wanted something with the ZR trem system in it but nothing I played felt right. The boys at LORD are spot on to play these ESPs, it's the only thing I've played that comes close to my les paul in tone, but this has a real floyd in it. While the paul had more mid and bottom in it, the ESP definitely has plenty of that, but it leans a little more towards the higher frequencies, giving it a snap and sizzle on certain positions I just can't get from my bareknuckle loaded paul.

Yes, it cost more than the Ibanez I was looking at, but IMHO worth every cent. It has a push-push coil split on the volume knob

    This looks exactly like mine:

So I've taken the plunge. Well not really plunge - more like dipping toe in water - of tentatively booking a cabin for the wife and I on 70000 Tons of Metal 2014.

Was not initially planning to go but several factors have motivated us.
    - last 70k on Majesty of the Seas as it is being retired from the fleet, and the wife and I had our honeymoon on there so we want to say goodbye to the old girl
    - 10% discount for booking early
    - special gift as it will be my 4th 70000 tons

Initial lineup is not blowing me away. But it will be great to finally see Symphony X live. Plus I look forward to seeing Dark Tranquillity and Finntroll again!

Anyone else going? Thinking about it?? If you are and you've not been on the previous ones, please use this referrer code OIUXMFLIYX as I will get $50 free onboard credit. I promise to buy you a beer if you do ;)
