This album is not really beating me senseless over the head like it's doing with some of you others yet. "A Journey's End" still reigns fucking supreme

I think I still could get the version with DVD if any of you want it, it could be here in a few days and at your place in a little over a week... 169 SEK which is approx. 25 USD (damn the dollar sucks) and shipping... well, maybe not worth it

Thanks. As I said, they aren't weak tracks, they just don't do it for me the way the other tracks do. However, that seems like something that could change with time. I think with all great discs, your favorite and least favorite tracks tend to change. Also, being that they're at the end of the CD, it may just be that I've heard them less than the other songs, and they haven't had the same number of opportunities to sink their hooks into me.

I find that with CDs I really love, the tracks I dislike at first end up being my favourites. I'm starting to really love the opening track off this album, which I initially found a bit lackluster.

I read the lyrics along with the songs, and it's just so fucking poignant, it's going to take a LOT to beat the level of emotion on the album.

It feels like I've been here before
Here to where the animals lay down to die
So we stood alone on a distant shore
Our broken spirits in rags and tatters

Nerve and muscle, heart and brains
Lost to Ireland, lost in vain
Pause and you can almost hear
The sounds echo down through the ages
The creak of the burial cart
    Here in humiliation and sorrow*

    Not mixed with indignation
    One is driven to exclaim
Oh god, that bread should be so dear
    And human flesh so cheap

*That entire passage just rips my heart out the way he sings it.

The title track is equally stunning. It's like two 10/10 songs and the rest are all around 9 to 9.5/10 - it's going to be really, really, really hard to beat this one unless the Hammers pull off another August Engine.

I don't have it yet, but I've heard it many many times. The new Queens of the Stone Age, which absolutely SMOKES. Could best even Kyuss, seriously. I'll share when I get it if you want. *smoke signals*

But this here Primordial is a shoe-in for Top 10 this year, it's very difficult for me to not listen to my illegally downloaded copy anymore (heard it twice) because I want to wait until I buy it. :)

Yep, I read it along with the music as well and each song gives me butterflies at a certain moment. Ya gotta love the liner notes to each song as well. :worship:

Is The Golden Spiral representative for the entire album? That's the only song I've heard and it frankly didn't do much for me.

Not really and .. yes at the same time . You've got a sample somewhere , it's "The Gathering Wilderness" I believe , much more "representative" I think.

Yes, if you're going to sample this album, listen to the title track and "Coffin Ships". Primordial is a good band to be patient with because once their style clicks with you, you have a whole catalog out there ready for the picking.

    [I still don't have Imrama].

Especially those two lines. So powerful. It's certainly going to be a contender for album of the year. I wonder how many RC Top 10 lists it will make.

By the way, if anyone's interested, the Metal Blade shop in Europe is selling the Primordial Gathering Wilderness 2LP for 17Euro and digipak CD+DVD for 14Euro.

    http://shop.metalblade.de/start.php

Shipping worldwide is 4Euro (which is cheap considering global shipping charges these days).
