    They used triggered bass drums on a few, but that's all. Which to clarify has nothing to do with a drum machine, but it can make it sound a little like one.

    What are triggered bass drums? I've read this term in many interviews and on messageboards, but I never really understood what it meant...

    triggers are little devices, kinda like microphones, that you place on the side of your drumheads. essentially they turn the acoustic sound of the bass drum hit into a simple on/off (1/0) electric signal which can then can be used to 'trigger' a sample to be played. the slightest hit will register as a 1 and hence regulates the sound of that drum.

    Doc from vader uses them on LITANY.

    I don't think they have ever used triggers, but I may be mistaken...
