Has anyone heard this? I bought the new Raintime cd and realized that this was on the cd. Track 8. It was awesome! I had to play it quite a few times.

I love the cover version. I wish it has been played at the Festival either by Raintime or when the singer participated in the All-Star Jam.

    Follow that.
BTW, there're several covers of this song in other genres, but I think this kicks too much ass.

They actually played it over the PA right after Raintime's set. I loved the cover when I heard it on the album a few weeks earlier (it was actually the first song my boyfriend played for me by Raintime) and had hoped they would have played it during their set (which I missed the first half of :erk:).

It's actually not so far fetched to think that a metal band would cover this Michael Jackson tune, IMO, since I believe it was during that period of MJ's career that he had Eddie Van Halen as his guitar player.

eddie did the studio lead solo, thats it. steve lukather from toto did the rest of the guitar, and tons of other live and studio musicians did all of MJ's other stuff :p

and yes this kicks ass "show me how fucking strong is your fight!"

I was yelling for this song immediately as they came on stage, unfortunately Claudio stated that they wouldnt play it after the first song.

With only a 45 min set, I'll take originals over a cover any day. But no doubt, it IS a bad ass cover.

I thought that it might as well have been an original since they took the song and made it their own.

I understand during the set but it was dissapointing not to see him do it for the allstar jam. Mayhaps he didn't want to do it w/o the rest of his band on stage.

I always like covers that are made their own by the band. In fact, Thor of Led Blimpie considers those to be the only true covers. Imitations of the original sound, he calls replicas. I pretty much have the same distinction in my mind, but hadn't put language to those concepts.

Claudio had told me later in the weekend that it would have been hard to pull off that song live. I can ask again when I interview him soon :)

Lemur Voice does an exceptionally good cover of this in their "divided" album too

It's sad that it took so many posts for someone to mention this. Lemur Voice's cover of "Beat It" from the 1999 album Divided is an example of what a cover should be. Awesome.
