I heard one once but found it boring, but I don't remember which one it was. It seemed like more than half the songs were ballads or just real slow. Anyway I'd like to give them another shot, so can someone recommend an album to check out? Thanks.

Your going to get a different response from every who posts, all their albums are that good.

I'd say go with their latest Christ.0, but you can not go wrong with any of their albums.

You can't really go wrong with this one. Pick up any of their albums, you'll either like it enough to want the rest of the catalog or the band just doesn't have anything to offer you, in which case you may need your ears checked.

Christ 0 is the one that hooked me in...from there, I started listening to the older ones. Not sure I would have come to like them so much if it had gone the other way around. I have 2 other cd's on order now plus Abydos.

Beyond Daylight is my favorite. But it is defnitely more subdued than Christ O. If you are someone who needs to be hit over the head when listening to metal then Vanden Plas probably isn't for you. If you can appreciate some of the most awesome songwriting, lyrics and vocal deliveries then you have reached the pinnacle with Vanden Plas!

Christ 0 was my favorite of 06'. I'd say to start there, and then work back.

Most will say, The God Thing, Far Off Grace, or Christ O. The one that brought me around was Spirit of Live. Yes it's a live disc, but I think it really captures their spirit. No disrespect intended, and I no longer feel this way but, I thought the vocals were too smooth on their studio stuff. Spirit of Live has a more aggressive vocal approach that really is what they sound like live, which is excellent.

    Hold Your Fire

Take away Sleeping with You and Rock You Tonight and replacing them with Don't Treat Me Bad and Rock On The Radio and it's practically a greatest hits.

I started with ChristO. In addition, I've only listened to Beyond Daylight. Both are amazing CD's. Next in line, The God Thing. Let's pray to the gods of metal!!!

For me, it is easly "The God Thing", although all are excellent. As everyone has said, you can't go wrong with any of them. The God Thing is where they really discovered their sound and is their most progressive offering, IMO. "Far Off Grace" was more of the same, IMO. "Beyond Twilight" added some new elements to "The God Thing" formula. To me "Christ 0" is a blend of the best of everything they've done in the past, but doesn't really exlpore new territory like TGT or FOG. So, for the newbie, "Christ O" would be an excellent recommedation.

"Far Off Grace" is the VP disc that gets the fewest spins by me, but again, another excellent disc.

I'm another one for Christ 0 ~ it's what I was intro'd to VP with... I also have Far off Grace and both are absolutely outstanding... Highly recommend... And once I'm off CD buy restriction, God Thing is the first disc I'm going after... :kickass:
